got xbox1 controller working.
You have to unplug any wireless mouse or keyboard, in my case i use a wired mouse & a wireless keyboard so i unpluged the keyboard. Straight away my wireless xbox1 controller was working. Once you get the controller working, you can plug the wireless keyboard or mouse back in & the controller should still work, it did for me. Hope this helps. This game does work better with mouse & keyboard.

AS WEIRD as this fix is, it worked for me as well. I am using a PS4 controller with DS4 windows.

Xbox One or OG Xbox?

I'm using series X controller btw.
