Final boss ruins the game - read before buying.

I thoroughly enjoyed most of the game, eventho the "itemization" was a huge drawback... simply no items or loot, you get 2 sets of armor in the entire game.
HOWEVER... after playing through the game on EASY MODE and finally reaching the final boss, i get completely and utterly destroyed by a broken boss. And what i mean with broken is that this boss is probably one of the more idiotic bossfights in any game i've played as of late.

My Arkail is a FULL TANK with all points into deflection and close to 700 health with 2 heals, while Styx is a critbuild melee assassin. Both characters has the best gear for their build.

When fighting the final boss, i get him down to 50%, then he revives an orc and heals himself, each berserker orc deals INSANE amounts of damage - even on EASY MODE. My tactics is basically spam boss with Stuns from Arkail and lower the boss's stunresist with Styx.
But stunning the boss doens't MATTER. Firstly.. the boss has INSANE amount of stunresist so stunning him is inanely hard. But even IF you successfully stun him, he will heal to full AND res another berserker orc... WHILE STUNNED, and he's invulnerable while casting heal or res.

By the time he resses the 2nd berserker Orc, you are toast.. A fully tanked Arkail with 700 health and deflection still dies very fast, the amount of damage easily surpasses the tiny tiny amount of ♥♥♥♥ HEALING that Arkail gets from his abilities.... 5 heal per tick.. when you have 700 health.... REALLY !?.

Now you could think that maybe this fight would get better if you went with a dps-arkail, but trust me, if you have played the game you know that Akrail's dps-tree is only there for show... ITS NOT AN OPTION.

I've tried killing the final boss several times now, but when he resses that 3rd Orc, its game over. And it doesn't matter if you kill the orcs, he'll just res them AGAIN. And if you think focusing on the boss while ignoring the orcs is an option, don't. They'll rip Arkail apart.

I really wish this boss would be patched so players could actually kill him before ripping their hair out in frustration. There are NO TACTICS to beating the boss, its just hoping that RNG-god is happy and gives you constant crit-dmg enough to burn the boss down.

Wasn't that bad. Tone down the difficulty, attack the boss and ignore the other orcs. Only the boss has to die to complete the sequence.

Hard to tone down the difficulty on easy... unless there's a hidden easier difficulty.

I disagree that it would ruin the game on any difficulty. I did a Bloodjaw (hardest) playthough, and I do agree that it is a broken, poorly designed mess of a fight. A lot of it comes down to awful checkpoint placement though, wasting ~10 minutes on foreplay and unskippable cutscenes, but it's certainly quite feasible to beat the thing if you do it on a lower difficulty.

As it is, I think I did end up getting more skillpoints through cheats to be done with it, but I did come frustratingly close to beating the boss multiple times, it's tedious process that led back into the fight every time you die that got me.

BUT! It certainly isn't unbeatable even on hardest difficulty (assuming you have all the right skills, which I didn't, yet almost got it anyway), and even less so on easier ones. If it seemed unbeatable on the easiest, there must have been something that you were doing completely wrong.

that's an old thread that I've commented at the time I've beaten it, can't remember the details of the builds and tactics now (happened over a year ago), but there are bits and pieces of good info in that short thread. Please don't necro it, though.

Having to rely on luck instead of skill or tactics is bad gameplay. Having the boss go invulnerable during any casting is just stupid. It would've been "some" tactics if you had to stay alive long enough to kill each berserker, but there isn't any tactics to it.
And if you haven't built the correct skills, you're screwed, which is also why this game is poorly polished, because eventho Arkail has an offensive tree, we all know you can't play an offensive Arkail..

OK finally beat the last boss. Here's what i did.

I made sure Styx had agro from the 2 starting berserkers, then i just ran him around while tossing stungrenades on the boss whenever the energy allowed for it.

I had Arkail in full offensive stance just waitling the strongest blows constantly, that burned down the boss so fast that by the time he had healed up once and was about to ress the 3rd berserker, i got a stun grenade in and Arkail finished him off with once last combo..


I loved the game and the story was awesome, but there were a few flaws, like almost no gear. I think my Arkail upgraded items 2 times during the whole game.

Is the game worth buying on sale ?. Yes . Good story and fun gameplay, the few issues doesn't drag down the overall fun i had in this game.

Will i play through it again on a harder diff ?. Probably not.

You just need Styx skill in assassin mode that burst 8 hits in a second, but you need to poison your daggers before. repeat 4-5 times, focus your damage on boss. EASY

Bound by Flame is easy one of my top 10 Games, othersides has Of Orcs and men good Story good Dialog, bad focusing, few flaws with the combos going even if the enemy has been dead since the first stike and weak Gear options but it's an Ork Orks don't have alot of variety in Armor since they're displayed here as Beserkers.

Just did the fight in under 60s on Hard. Simply let my Ark go berzerk on the boss and hit down the adds with Styx.

But at 12-5-2017 you didn't have the achievement. You just finished the game at easy level ...

I love this game, played through on hardest/bloodjaw difficulty, enjoyed every challenge and fight - but I guess I do suck on some level, as I just CANNOT beat the final dude. Also went full tank on Arkill... I cant find it in me to play the Styx sequel (the stealth game) until I beat this mofo... but now when I return to the game I cant remeber a thing hahaha.

Defintiely seemed out of balance with the rest of my experience... not sure what to do really - because when I did know what I was doing, I just got repeatedly rinsed in that fight no matter what I tried. Maybe a different a build would help... despite it rocking the entire game. I'll have to replay the whole thing just to remember the damn game.

I just beat him on normal difficulty, but the assassin attacks might not actaully be the best, first hitting with a destabalising attack followed by flying dagger spam tends to keep him staggered with it's absalutely rediculous rate of fire + knockback.

Finished it on normal - although my achievements are broken, somehow? not showing anything past chapter 2 - by putting Arkhail in defensive mode (no berserk) and controlling Styx (poison + stun bombs; assassin build focusing on dodge and crits). Both protags target Zealot only. Took a few minutes and a lot of running in circles.
