Can you explain what region locked is. Googled it so I could verify the definition and didn't give me a good result.

Use this and there won't be any more region locking. In addition, the patch fixes some bugs and also makes installing/running the game easier, it is basically a prerequisite for RE5 at this point.

I was wondering why #1 said there's region locking when there clearly isn't, I've never seen it, but that's because I've never played this without the patch. To be clear, the base game has region-locked matchmaking, but only for randoms. Friends can join you regardless of region, even without the patch. I'd highly recommend using the patch though.

If you're not convinced or think it's bad/malware, a RE forum mod actively links to it as well. It is safe and a necessity IMO. https://steamcommunity.com/app/21690/discussions/0/3053989078745628688/

Does this fan-patch interfere with the latest official patch?

Not to my knowledge, as in it doesn't prevent achievements from working or online play with non-patch users. Everything should continue to work, with the added benefits of the patch. I also highly recommend looking at the patch's ini file that it creates and changing things like the aiming mode. On PC you have a reticle instead of a laser attachment. You can re-enable the laser via the ini/config file. The laser feels a lot better to use than the reticle, I think anyway. It also includes camera options, like increasing the FOV, which is missing from the PC port.

Just to check, is this split screen online co-op or does it have full screen as well? Planning on playing this on stream with a partner but I'm not entirely sure.

Split-screen online coop as in playing split-screen locally with someone, but like in 4-man VS or sth? It didn't have normal split-screen without mods before. Didn't have. They added local split-screen and removed GFWL just a few days ago, apparently. https://www.eurogamer.net/resident-evil-5-steam-update-adds-local-split-screen-coop

Online coop is limited to 2 players unless you play the VS mode, so idk if split-screen works with VS, but you can definitely play the campaign split-screen now. I don't know if it supports Steam's Remote Play feature, but you can play it locally with someone else.

What I meant was, is it possible to play through the campaign online without having split screen (meaning full screens on both of our ends). Myself and the person I'm gaming with are in different countries, so it will be strictly online.

I know people are talking a lot about the local split screen co-op. I was just wondering if normal co-op is a thing or if it's forced split screen regardless of being online.

I hope that makes sense.

If you play online with someone you'll have your entire screen to yourself. The screen being split in the middle, hor/vert, is for local play-only and will not appear online, as is the case for RE6 and most, basically all, online games. "A Way Out" is the only game I know of which has forced split-screen for any sort of coop, which makes sense with how the game operates.
