Capcom released a new Patch for RE5 to version 1.2.0

This includes:
- GFWL removal (for real this time?)
- Split Screen support
- Remaster Options for: Better FOV cam, QTE support, Shadow details
- Country code flags fix
- Main Weapon drop in Versus mode (didn't test this myself yet)
- Some fixes to help people that could not start the game.

Still missing:
- Mercenaries United
- Trading Weapons with AI Partner
- Enemy Pathfinding is sill broken
- Score Stars in Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape still have broken hitbox

If this are your main points you can just use the new offical patch


If you want Enemy Pathfinding fix and No Mercy coop / Reunion No Mercy you can still just use this patch and don't miss much.

The fix contains:

• Launcher.exe

Installation:

Go to your Steam installation directory of the game
usually in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 5

Copy and paste all files into your Resident Evil 5 folder and backup/override the old files.
Just Launch the game as usual from your Steam library and the fixes will take place.

Fixes

• GFWL NO LONGER REQUIRED TO START THE GAME

  Games for Windows Live is no longer required to launch and play the game.
  
  
  

• REGION LOCK REMOVED

  You are now able to see and join ALL open game session from ALL regions in all game modes.
  ⚠ IMPORTANT: people from other regions without this patch unfortunately still can't see your session!
  
  
  

• COUNTRY CODE

  The game now shows again the correct country flag when you host a game session and when you upload scores to the leaderboards.
  ⚠ IMPORTANT: games from people without this patch will still send the wrong country code and show the wrong flag!
  
  
  

• TRADE WEAPONS WITH YOUR PARTNER

  You are now able to give and request weapons from your partner without restrictions.
  It fixes the bug where you can't trade Weapons with your AI partner when playing offline.
  
  In Additon you can now also give weapons to your online partner, but both need the fix to trade them back and forth.
  ⚠ But keep in mind that weapons will loos ALL upgrades then
  
  
  

• VERSUS MODE DEFAULT WEAPON DROP

  When you die you no longer lose your default weapon in VERSUS MODE: SURVIVORS/TEAM SURVIVORS, like in the original console version.
  
  
  

• ENEMY PATHFINDING

  Enemy behavior now works again like intended as in the original PS3/XBox360/GfWl release.
  
  ☣ This fixes the problems regarding the Majini with the crane key not jumping down from the crane in chapter 6-1,
  
  
  ☣ Chainsaw Majini in Desperate Escape and Majinis in The Mercenaries not jumping out of containers.
  
  
  ☣ Also prevents Majini from running around in circlels like idiots!
  
  
  

• LIGHT EFFECTS

  Fixes the misplaced light effects like lens flares and other light sources.

• FIXED PLAYER SIZE

  Fixes a bug for some of the DLC characters that keep changing size when doing all kinds of animations.
  It's most noticeable by switching weapons or using ladders.
  
  
  

• NO BLACK OUTLINES CAUSED BY ANTI ALAISING

  Removes the thick black outlines around characters and enemies that is caused by anti aliasing.

• DUO NO MERCY

  While hosting a duo season in The Mercenaries orThe Mercenaries Reunion you can hit the [F1] key to activate No Mercy mode.
  
  ⚠ Important: This feature is only available if a partner is joined and is in your Steam friendlist.
  
  
  
  Scores will be shown on the end screen after the round but NOT saved or send to the leaderboards to keep everything clean.
  
  4 Player Mercenaries/No Mercy is currently NOT supported because of the various disconnects caused by the buggy netcode of the game!
  
  
  

• .ini OPTIONS

  You can now easely enable/disable various additional mods in the config.ini of the game
  
  .ini location:
  C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\CAPCOM\RESIDENT EVIL 5
  
  The new entries belong under [GAME] and will be automatically added to the .ini after the first start of the game with the patched exe.
  You can also add the values manually before the first start.
  
  
  
  

  Biohazard {ON | OFF}	Simply changes the text and voice from the title screen into Biohazard
  HideInputNotification {ON | OFF}	Disables the message that always appears when you switch between controller and keyboard + mouse
  MouseLaser {ON | OFF}	Enables the laser sight for mouse aiming
  ReunionMeleeOverall {ON | OFF}	Gives you the possibility to use partner specific melee moves from Reunion characters with every partner and in solo mode as long as your HP is over 50%
  SetLanguage {czech | english | french | german | italian | japanese | polish | russian | spanish}	This Option gives you a proper language selection
  VersusRandomFinisher {ON | OFF}	Let you perform a random picked melee move to finish off dying players in Versus mode
  BorderlessWindow {ON | OFF}	Gives you the option to play the game in a borderless window mode.
  RemasteredCamera {ON | OFF}	A recreation of the PS4 HD Remaster exclusive expanded fov option. OFF ON

Px4 - Male fix

The Px4 is only supposed to be used by Jill in The Mercenaries mode.
Because of that, all male characters hold the gun wrong and the gun itself has wrong shooting animations when used by a male character.


Fixed by editing the .lmt files with the right animation.


(Unfortunately this method won't work for the Samurai Edge with female characters.)

Barry effect fix

The error here is only noticeable from certain angles. Everytime Barry takes a hit, there is this strange dust effect like a knife swing or what ever this is supposed to be.


This happens because of the wrong .eff files in the character eff.arc.
Fixed by replacing them with the right .eff files.

DLC Score Star fix

For what ever reason the hit box of the score stars is totaly broken so that you even can shoot right through them in certan points.


Credit goes to Wilsonso and his LMT Tool that allows me to port .hit files the right way from the PS3 version.

Additional troubleshooting

• Game won't start with this Fix

  Make sure that your antivirus program won't block or deleted the "maluc.dll".
  In that case you probably need to make an exception for it in your antivirus program.
  Or in the case of Avira you have to turn off the "real time protection", start the game and then turn it back on.
  
  

• The game is crashing after the recent Update to Version 1.1.0

  The update changed the exe to support chinese language. If you encounter crashes on startup you have to reinstall the RE5 Fixes.
  
  

• The game starts and closes immediately without an error message.

  The Steam version runs on DX9 only. Make sure your PC supports DX9.

  People also reported that the game didn't work while using a DisplayPort cable.
  If you have the chance try to switch to an HDMI cable and see if that might work.
  
  Also make sure the in your Device Manager your monitor driver is installed properly and is listed with its right name and NOT with a default standardized PnP driver.
  
  
  
  

• Game won't start under Windows 10 N

  User of the Windows 10 N version need to download the Windows Media Feature Pack in order to start the game because it needs the Windows Media Player for the menu intro sequence.

• error: re5dx9.exe Fatal Application Exit | ERR09: Unsupported Function on startup

  The game has some problems running in fullscreen mode and you can try to run it in window mode.
  To activate the window mode you have to open the config.ini
  
  .ini location:
  C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\CAPCOM\RESIDENT EVIL 5
  
  and set:
  FullScreen=OFF
  
  

• False positive Virus alert

  Because of the way the fix works, by loading a dll into the exe to make some changes to the code, some virus scan programs will recognize this "behavior pattern" as a virus. This is a false positive and will not harm your PC in any way.
  If you feel unsecure with it you can take a look into the comment section of the guid for feedback and the overall positiv rating for this guid.
  
  

• Graphic flicker

  Again, playing the game in window mode can help to prevent some graphic glitches
  
  

• Enemies keep glitching

  The game can run smooth on 120fps but animations for enemies are not meant to work at 120fps. locking the game at 60fps can help to prevent bugs.
  
  

• ENB series true color mod

  If you want to use the ENB series true color mod and you have trouble to start the game then the ENB version probably is not compatible.

i dont have versus randomizer

unfortunately everytime i play with this patch installed the "golden edition" writing disappears from the main menu and i can't find any online match to join, it used to work before the recent update.. verifying game files validates and redownloads a few files and lets me finally find matches but all region locked. is there any fix for this?

I have two monitors. Switching off both of them after launching the game made it work for me. It stopped crashing! I couldn't launch it at all before this. Thanks to Keiichi too!

Launching the game with the monitor turned off did it for me!!!!! After 1 week of trying fixes and reinstalling the game like 10 times. Thanks to Keiichi below for this!
