Away Team Playtest 1 - [Now Closed]

We have now closed the first Away Team Playtest. During this playtest we invited 1000 participants and 877 of those that were invited jumped in the game to check it out!
We got a bunch of great feedback and we're getting to work on the list of things we're going to work on in response to our first playtest.

We'll let you know more details about future playtests as soon as we have them!

Hey everybody!

Over 1,000 players were invited into this first test, and we got a ton of great feedback and bug reports. Whether you played a little bit or a lot, thank you so much to everyone who participated!

We’re going to shut down the playtest on Thursday, so participants will still have a bit more time to work on their bases. We're definitely interested to know how the later tier tech is working for everyone.

This first playtest gave us a clearer picture of how players interact with our systems, and we now have a big list of features, bug fixes, and QoL that we’d like to work on before we move on to our next playtest.

Once again, thanks to everybody for your interest in Away Team. The feedback and reactions have been amazing, and we’re looking forward to the next playtest!

Not sure yet! We have a big list of features, bug fixes, and QoL that we want to work on. We’ll update everyone as soon as we know.

Do I have to sign up again next time?

Players who were in this playtest will automatically be granted access for the next one. We’re also keeping the signups intact, so the next playtest you will not need to sign up again.

So instead of a Colony of dupes this has just one dupe having to do what an entire colony struggles to accomplish? HARD PASS P.S. I miss old school Klei.

Away Team Trailer and Closed Playtest Signups

Hello friends!

Today, we launched a new trailer that answers the number one question we've been asked since we first announced the game: will there be multiplayer? At the time, given the scale of the simulation, we were not 100% sure we'd be able to manage it, but we're happy to announce that we are indeed supporting online multiplayer!

In addition, after years of development, we're now ready for our first batch of external playtesters. As this is our first outing and we need to test the base systems of the game, the scale of this playtest will be small and limited to singleplayer. You can head over here to sign up:

What’s in this playtest?

This playtest includes the core systems of the game. You’ll need to harness temperature, power, pipes, chemical reactions, and more in order to build a base, research technologies, and get your survival needs met.

We expect the playtest to have around 50 cycles of gameplay. Over time, we will be adding more content, lore, and greater goals for the Duplicant to achieve.

You can provide us feedback using the in-game feedback tool (CTRL+F8), on our forums[forums.kleientertainment.com], or on Discord[discord.gg]. Thank you!

When will the game launch?

We don’t have a launch date yet, however, we almost certainly will be doing more playtests in the future. Wishlist the game on Steam to be alerted when we post major Away Team news, or sign up for the Klei email newsletter[klei.gg] to stay up to date on everything Klei.

How many players will the game support?

We’re not sure yet! Future playtests will help us figure out the balance and technical limitations of multiplayer.

Never into ONI will this be good?

Asking people that got into Playtest. I have friend and we both played ONI ONCE only ONCE and never again since it not our thing and my friend he even more monkey brain to this type of game but he probably into creative CO-OP game i just ask him today if he interested soo he havent respond yet. Will this be fun? I hope so but as someone play Minecraft Crate before and start to understand why people like Factorio a little. I wonder if this will be fun and easy to understand than ONI...

What exactly is this gonna be? A Terraria but in ONI?

like title, i just saw the trailer and was confused about what exactly this is gonna be? co-op is amazing yes, but since i didn't see a small army of duplicants, does that mean it's gonna lean more towards a terraria type of thingy? i couldn't really tell from either the trailer or store page...
