You'd be surprised at the wide range of teachings and divisive views in Christianity; about Jesus, evolution, doctrine for today, prophecy, etc. It's best to not take chances and write off something seemingly silly when the issue discussed is about salvation.
I guess you could just take this as everyone caring about you- in the original assumption that you were serious about a serious topic that's often struggled with
I have several Metal or Alternative Rock songs I listen to that deliver a clean and compelling message and don't make you feel as if you're sinning or something.
I can most certainly not listen anymore to new types of pop music as I used to, when all the message behind it is about sex, sinful and deprived ideologies. The Holy Spirit convicts me of listening to them and therefore I just feel guilty, eventually moving to something that is more holy.
The instrumental part of a music can lead you to sinful thoughts, but I'd argue that's not necessarily the case. At the end of the day, if you enjoy a song, doesn't carry any kind of sinful messages and isn't your idol, I don't see it being a sinful thing.
There are lots of people in the church that will be turned away on the day of Judgment, even saying they did so many things for God. And a number of people will be there that your avg Christian wouldn't think deserved to be there because he rarely showed up for Sunday service.
But even the servant that was hired last was paid the same wages as those that were hired first.
