Streets of Rogue 2

Streets of Rogue 2

Scope of the demo?
Hello everyone! I'm a huge fan of the original Streets of Rogue, and the sequel has me more excited then any game I can remember. From my understanding, the Nextfest is going to start on the 11th of this upcoming June, and there will be a demo for this game. I've got some questions about its scope and what will be in it.

What kind of stuff will be featured in the demo, and how it will be limited compared to the full game? Will you be relegated to a specific section of the map, and certain features not available? How many playable characters will there be for it? Will we be able to use the skill trees at all?

Again, this demo has me super hyped, so if anyone has information about it, I'd love to hear it! :lunar2019piginablanket:

- I'm considering the demo to be an "alpha demo" similar to the free versions of SOR1 that were released prior to its Early Access launch. Think of it as a pre-Early Access vertical slice.

- The demo will take place entirely on an island, with the rest of the world map not being accessible due to the surrounding water (and lack of sea-based transportation). The island will feature a couple of cities, with the main objective being to take down the mayor of the larger city (or at least gain their ear).

- The content will be procedurally generated, though it's likely certain aspects will be a bit more "controlled" than a game typically would be, since this is a demo and I want to ensure players have a good experience!

- Several character classes will likely be playable.

- The demo will feature local coop for 2 (and possibly 4) players. Online coop won't be ready in time.

- A small number of skill trees will be available, though in a somewhat more limited (and likely just incomplete) form than at Early Access launch.

- Most major features planned for Early Access launch will be present, with some exceptions, primarily due to those features just not being ready for primetime yet. I'll likely release a roadmap detailing all this at some point.

The demo should hopefully be a lot of fun to mess around in and give you a little taste of what's to come.

Will custom character creation be included in the demo, or is it not ready yet?
