Reaper was a joke.
It's like their goal is to make this boss easier and easier with each new persona game. I accidentally one shotted him in my first playthrough.

They're purposefully making Persona games easier as it gets more mainstream. Currently playing on Merciless and having no difficulties really, I completed the first block of Tartarus all in one go as if I was on normal. Play Shin Megami Tensei, I don't think they will make those games easier anytime soon because the difficulty is part of the appeal.

Play SMT if you want difficulty. Persona will continue getting easier as you become more knowledgeable and the games become more streamlined. The SMT5 re-release is coming soon.

I've tried SMT3 I like it, they need more SMT games on steam, so I will be buying SMT5 and whatever else they rerelease on steam.

You can oneshot it every single time with armageddon theurgy, nothing else even needed. Its not really supposed to be that hard.

Try second optional boss if you want the real challenge.

I used the strongest theurgy on him thinking it’s just gonna do a lot of damage, not one shot his ass.

The first appearance of the reaper was in the original release of Persona 3 from 2006, even in his first appearance you can one shot it with Armagaddon. Try fighting it with early 80s lvl without Armagaddon and you will get a decent challenge.

The Theurgy you're talking about makes any enemy/boss a joke, unless they have certain HP thresholds (like Takaya, for example). Mr. Reaper is completely innocent here.

Don't use Armageddon and it should be a relatively good fight, assuming you hover around level 85 or so now.

nah when I first got him at 60ish I got my ass kicked. I tried a few times and couldn't beat him. I finally beat him after 70 in the final block. it felt just right and rewarding at the same time. If you one shot him "on accident" you are not playing right, like you are likely min maxing or grinding - it makes the game extremely easy and boring. The game is all right, but you are not.

Well my huge problem with him is unless you purposefully wait for him, he isn’t gonna spawn in unless you take awhile to clear a single floor of Tartarus. They made it so he won’t spawn in until around floor 80 I wanna say. Which in my opinion defeats the whole purpose of the reaper. In the other games he spawns in regardless of how far you are in the game, and you have the highest chance of spawning him if you’re weaker, because you’re gonna take longer to clear through these floors. I didn’t run into him once my whole playthrough even while killing everything on each floor, I had to wait what felt like forever for him to even spawn in. Killing him would have felt rewarding if dude actually spawned in.

Dude what? In both P3 and P5 you need to wait for him or he won't spawn, being weaker or not doesn't matter at all because that time must be out of combat. And what is the point of fighting him before floor 80 and how on earth does him not appearing before that defeat his purpose?

He's an optional boss that should be fought at around level 70-80, of course he's a joke if you are overleveled and you even used Armaggeddon, which btw also oneshots him on P3 Fes & Portable. Hell, in the OG you could kick his ass just spamming Thunder Reign + Physical Attack + All Out Attack

-> Reaper can be spawn anywhere in Tartarus once you have reached 62F or higher, then comeback to 2F of Tartarus then Reaper start to appear.
-> When you get dark zone of current Tartarus floor, Reaper will spawn much faster
-> i agree, Reaper is much easier in this game because player able to land critical hit (in older P3 games most players use Thunder Reign's 100% Shock, you can't infliict any ailments in Reload), use theurgy, shift, and now any physical skills have amp + boost

Reaper doesn't mean to be hard anymore, but instead Reaper for testing your damage output

if you wanna something real hard Reaper, play P4G, you still able to land critical hit against him but you can't inflict any ailment, no shift, no physical amp nor boost, only Hassou Tobi is overpower skill against him, so my advice don't use hassou tobi instead use primal force or vile assault when you able knock down P4G Reaper.
