When will Maplestory shut down? Because I spent $1000 on this game already.

Honestly, as long as KMS has a large enough player base, then GMS as well as any other version of MS will probably not be shut down. KMS is still going strong with weekly-monthly updates.

Maplestory will shut down when Nexon sees that Maplestory isnt making enough money to make it worth while updating and maintaining.

Well the game is GOING to shut down the Global server within about a year, maybe two if we keep supporting it. They've clearly given up on the game seeing as how they just patched the game to the latest patch in korea without all the cool new classes, worlds, and extra. So I surmise that they are just letting you play the end game that is available in Korea in global because of plans to either shut down Global or shut down the entirety of MapleStory. THAT BEING SAID... No. You didn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waste your money doode. That was an accumulation over time. People like us are the reason MapleStory 2 exists. Most people have at least one game they invest in and that's not just for the amazingly fond memories around what spending that money will get you but also A BETTER GAME! They wouldn't be able to update their own game without people like us putting a few small bills into the game whenever we can to not only see our personal character grow but also the whole WORLD around YOUR character(s). You aren't just paying for the kule gear, pets, boosters, owls, marketbooths, NARUTO HEADBANDS! You are buying the next ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ patch every month you pay. YOU are saying here's my money; make this better! And every month you pay is contributing to the next month of game play. The world you play in and the new experience you have are what you pay for not just because you want some cool ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ perma gear- but because you care enough to want to see this game grow and experience it's death with dignity that you and every one else did some thing great. We made that video game. We express our concerns and they have been pretty DAMN good about fixing what they can and that's all we can ask. At the end of the day we wouldn't trade a second of that game time for the world- well, it meant the world to me. I can't speak for every one but those are memories that I wouldn't exchange for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ world. ... But maybe a monkey- but the point is the memories, advancement of the game, and sequels are what you're paying for! And I have no idea if the game is going to actually shut down, that ♥♥♥♥ is just speculation.

lol 5 years and 3 months later and this forum is still open. How have you guys been doing lately? have you achieved your 5 year goal? I just graduated from high school when I posted this forum and now I'm 24 about to leave the navy with honorable discharge. Going to school in february to be a speech therapist, hope everyone here is doing good as well

I'm gonna be the "Captain Obvious" of this thread I guess--just keep an eye on Nexon's stock and you will see exactly how long MapleStory will stay alive. It's their main cash cow besides mobile gaming ports overseas and I'm sure they're very much aware of it. It takes little to no actual ingenuity to upkeep and come up with events for it (just look at the coding for yourself), it has an easy graphics style, and it wouldn't take much to port over to new regions if they ever decide to expand their markets again

On another note keeping this zombie-thread alive is also a reason the game won't shut down any time soon either
