How much of a P2W is this game?

I'm intersted in the game, haven't tried it yet. The game got into my radar 'cause of the Niru Controversy and Him saying that this game was really stubborn in the trading/pay2win experience, yada, yada.

I'm not really willing to pay money to this game but I'm interested in the gameplay and such.

My other question was: Is this something like Ragnarok Online?

play on heroic instead of regular (niru plays regular). Heroic is way easier to play without paying anything
