Want to get back into Maple
I haven't played in many years. I ran about eight characters on two worlds, but they've probably been moved around due to merging. I'd like to have all my guys together. What I'm really wondering is, what world should that be now, and for the future? I don't really want to start over, but I will if I have to. Could probably use a free move event. Any tips?

Tbh the last free move event, I'm aware of at least, was the world/server merge. So unless they decide to do that again (which I very highly doubt) then you may want to simply make new characters on whichever server(s) you prefer. Reboot's progression is tied to in-game mesos (including character & inventory slots, etc) and Non-Reboot/Regular is mostly tied to everything else like Androids/pets and you can trade but Cash shop has never really been a thing to me (my opinion obvy lol) besides sale during world merge (slots were 1NX apiece if you missed). So might be worth making new characters just to see how progression has changed? Anyway, Happy Mapling :steamhappy::maple: & welcome back!

Also, might be worth visiting their main website here: http://maplestory.nexon.net/landing as it's changed a lot plus has a nice, shiny new/returning player guide that has a ton of info.

Play on Reboot if you don't want your progression tied to spending real-world currency... Play on the Regular Servers if you don't mind paying to get a leg-up. You can make some seriously fast progress on Regular Servers if cash isn't a problem, thought I don't recommend this for obvious reasons.

I always just worked the grind before. I never paid to rush. I don't mind the grind. It's the main thing I liked about Maple. Even so, I'm kind of interested in the Reboot. I don't know much about it other than the lack of pay-to-win. Problem is, I guess my old characters can't be moved to Reboot. That means I'd have to delete them, wait for the name release, and then make them again. Also, don't know if all the classes I had are available on Reboot.

I'll check it. I do that about once a year, whenever I think of going back, but I never find the info I'd really like. Maybe the new setup will help. The thought of deleting all my characters to carry their names over is a real pain. Otherwise, I'd probably like Reboot. I never cash shopped except for one or two cosmetics, and I never traded. It's been MANY years since I played though. I started when there was maybe four classes! I left sometime after the elf girl with two crossbows and the pirate class--both of which were fun.

Do you really need their names that bad? :cryptothink:

Wow you've been gone a really, really long time then as there are roughly 49 job classes now including the 3 different permanent beginners and none of them are limited to any specific server btw. As I mentioned previously, on the Reboot server you can purchase a lot of things for the in-game f2p currency (mesos) like extra character slots so you can literally have one of every job class if that sounds like something you might be interested in. Also, it's a lot easier to level on that server as well--not that's it's all that difficult on non-Reboot/Regular servers (especially if you have a bit of knowledge about the game's mechanics). It's simply that a lot of other folks end up complaining about the Regular server progression when compared to the Reboot server (which is supposed to be different/challenging).

Btw, the elf girl is Mercedes whom you can use to boost the exp gain of all other characters on a server through her link skill at level 70 plus she provides a passive cool-down on skills through your Legion. The pirate jobs are either Corsair or Buccaneer which also have links/legion boosts and are also interesting job classes as well but there are tons of others listed on the main MapleStory site you should check out!

Cool. Then I will probably remake that one first and slowly remake my other characters after I have the exp boost. I'll probably go Reboot. (I hope they don't shut it down like they did Maple 2!)

As far as the names.... Yeah, I kinda feel like I want to keep them.

I think my only other question is this: Back in the day, there was the attitude that only certain skills were worth having. If you put your points into a different combo, other players would say, "You messed up. Delete the character and start over." Is it still that way?

Thanks for all the help, players. I've been avoiding this for a long time, but now I'm feeling kinda psyched up about it. Can't wait to smack down some stumps and pigs again. I've played, literally, hundreds of games--of all kinds. But, sometimes, the simplest games are the most fun and relaxing. That's how I got addicted to clicker/idle games!

There are multiple Maple job class build sites out on the web now (I'm sure you can look them up) but for the most part it's simply maxing the main stat of the job, maxing the best dps skill first, then maxing the passives and the active boosts (if applicable) or the rest afterwards because you have plenty of SP now. Only drop AP on the main stat for the character (no more secondary stat needed other than through equips). So pretty hard to mess up but there are AP/SP resets available through merchant Matilda on Regular servers and for mesos on Reboot (if I'm not mistaken). Btw if you actually come back on any older characters with secondary stats you're really going to want to reset them for higher dps. You don't really have to delete any character even if you do accidentally "mess up" something on them.
