help on understanding leveling in MapleStory

Hi, I started playing the game as Tanjiro and did not have much trouble getting to 200, then I discover legion and link skill and I got Mercedes to increase level up (which was not helpful as tanjiro already has a 1200% extra exp so the 20% is not a good increase), then I discover Ignore enemy defense and level up a lumino to get more the enemy def ignore...

I'm struggling at level 127, feel like with the exp x3 coupon it takes like an hour or more to level up so I wanted to know from experience players if that is normal in this game? that to level up you either do daily tasks and be patience about it or just grind for more than hour for each level.

There is a misconception to what you should prioritize when it comes to link skills as a new player.

While the extra exp and ignore def are good link skills they don't do much for you at the stage of progression you're at.

Instead focus on 1 shotting mobs so work on links that give raw damage and try to get your crit rate to 100%.

Killing more mobs equals more exp thus making it easier to level up legion.
