No one is buying gear that isn't perfected due to the nature of interactive so that could be a reason. Most people who flat out buy their equipment on interactive make sure they don't have to touch it for a long time depending on how much they're willing to spend. On the other hand event drops for the bigger events always sell like hotcakes. Assuming you have a well built account that can farm event drops whenever they roll around.
You aren't choosing between social server and a trading server.
You're choosing between a f2p and p2w server. Everyone is on reboot for a reason. No need to pay for cubes with money when you can just grind for meso to flat out buy them.
Coming from a former Aurora player who made the switch last year from a well funded account and main, if you truly want to progress and see what the game has to offer without having to spend copious amounts of money to even participate in the content then switching to Heroic and starting over will let you experience that.
With how generous the game is with burn events you could probably start on reboot with the upcoming winter event and blow your progression in bera out of the water. We get two 260 burns one of which is a great legion piece that benefits your account immensely.
The fun is making mesos which is bossing which you can't do properly because you haven't played the game since you just spent money and didn't do any of the content you needed to have the items you need to actually progress or even gear up mules.
You should literally have so many abso coins, Zakuum Face Accessories, Blossom rings, Gollux sets, etc that you could gear all your characters enough to solo hard Hilla or up to Lomien with relatively no effort and not rely on gear in AH given that botters/hard workers will literally list diffusion cells for nothing if you been daily bossing.
The reason why no one buys in interactive is everyone makes their own gear and hackers/stupid people sell their stupid items that isn't even that good for ridiculous prices causing the illusion of items being worth that much because THEY don't even play so don't know what the prices are and the people who DO play put ridiculous prices because they overvalue whatever it is they have given it takes REAL time to obtain even if you put in money like certain boss drops that are barred by weekly/monthly entries.
In short, the real fix is streamlining content, teaching newer players how to properly play and encourage real social interaction and practicing good ol charity so they can skip a few weeks of grinding to catch up and join you for mid game content to finally slowly climb to end game content one day while praying the rest of the community continues to grow enough that the economy actually stabilizes from enough players knowing what items should be worth like any other game.
