There are a lot of stories and content to go through, potentially on many different characters, before you really have to worry about gear upgrades too much. Once you do reach that point, F2P play becomes hard. There will be a lot of daily things for you to do to slowly make money and progress. Attendance events are rewarding and will help a lot with progression. There is a lot of RNG involved in the upgrading of your equipment, so that takes time and effort.
Boss fights are what makes this game interesting imo. There are a lot of them, and they really require you to learn their patterns and learn your own class inside out (assuming you don't have the dmg to burst them down). They'll keep you on your toes and the harder ones are fun to organize parties for.
If you live in the Netherlands, I would recommend to stay away from Luna server unless you really enjoy suffering. Dutch people suffer from a trade ban and can not make use of the auction house or trade with other players, due to a misinterpretation of a dutch law by Nexon. The Heroic server (Solis) would be the way to go in that case, though I have no experience with it myself.
In Summary, if you enjoy the chibi artstyle and don't mind the massive grind, yes it's worth getting into.
I see. Do you happen to know anything about servers? I've seen people complaining and say they don't want to play on Nexon. Is there a private server or something people play on? Or is the normal in-game random server enough? You mentioned Luna and Dutch people. Are the servers not divided by NA and EU?
People complain about Nexon, because Nexon has done some shady stuff over the years. It's one of the reasons why I'm staying F2P.
I know nothing about private servers, sorry. Though I'm sure they exist.
