Controller support not working for Maplestory

I'm having trouble using my Nintendo switch controller to play Maplestory, I've tried literally everything and the controller wont registrar in the game. I've tried restarting my PC multiple times and cannot get it to work I've tried going to controller settings and Enabling steam input but nothing happens at this point I'm wondering if Nexon stopped controller support because I have no idea what to do next. If anyone has any idea of what to do and how to solve this issue please leave a comment. Thank you

I'll post these here and hopefully they provide a solution as I'm honestly not familiar with using a Switch controller to play MapleStory (I use an off-brand PowerA XBox one without any issues):

Once you get Steam to pickup the controller then you click on the in-game gear-shaped icon to setup the button configuration for the controller's buttons. You can figure out which buttons correspond to the in-game's by viewing Window's device settings for the controller--it's really not that difficult to figure out.
