As for playing with "bots and people with social anxiety" it sounds like you aren't even at a point in the game where playing with others is beneficial to you so no one bothers communicating.
I suggest joining a progression guild and start looking for struggle parties for bosses that you have access to and can't solo yet.
As for games that are like maplestory? There really isn't anything like it. You could give DFO a try it's another Korean based MMO.
You'll see a lot of grouping up and talking once you hit Lucid/Will and anything after those two bosses. You also see a lot more grouping content at 260+ since Monster Park Extreme is unlocked.
I'm not sure what server you're in or what kind of guilds you have applied to but most guilds are pretty lax in terms of letting new players join them especially when burning events roll around like right now. Unless you're applying to strict end game guilds then you shouldn't really have trouble getting into one.
I suggest taking advantage of the current burn event to get to the point in the game where you're doing LuWill and maybe find a guild that can teach you Will mechanics or maybe even a permanent bossing party that's at the same point in progression you are in.
If all else fails you can always stop by the reboot central discord if you're in reboot to ask for some bossing friends or look at guilds that are recruiting. If not on reboot I'm sure they have a regular server version of the discord server that you can refer to
In all honesty there's nothing quite like MapleStory (in my opinion, thus why folks keep returning even after a hiatus) but there have been similar styled/type games which you can surely go search and find for yourself. Plus MapleStory is consistently updated and maintained when many others simply are not or do not appear to have added any new content/job classes in years if not decades.
