Are your headphones/speakers plugged into the correct audio port on the sound card or jack for your laptop/desktop? Have you tried going through the settings and ensuring they match the input/output on your system? Have you attempted to update your OS/device drivers recently? Have you tried launching other games to ensure your sound works at all? Have you made any recent changes to your system lately that you may have to reset/reverse so that your sound comes back?
If the above questions sound confusing at all then you may need to locate an IT pro in your area for assistance with servicing and see if they can provide support.
A weird thing is that this game doesnt show up at all in volume mixer when using nexon launcher but does with steam. But also no sound with steam. Only in some rare exceptions.
I only hear sound when feeding pets or in one map just one monster makes a noise while all others in the game dont.
I have the exact same issues. No problem with other games whatsoever, everything up to date. Were you able to fix the no sound problem?
I'm on Windows 11 and even if I try to run it with the compatibility mode (Win 8, 7, etc.) it doesn't work. It doesn't show as a running app in the volume mixer, only with Steam - but still no sound aswell.
Apologies for wall but I hope it provides a decent explanation of what may be occurring. My best advice: stick with a single sound output device & ensure everything with it is updated (this doesn't always show up in your system's device manager). Also, you may need to check your version of DirectX as well and update it also, if possible.
The issue that sits not right with me is the fact that it doesn't show up as a running app whenever I play through the Nexon Launcher. There has to be some kind of other issue. No matter what game or music I play, it plays whichever sound output I choose (headset or bluetooth in-ears, for example).
I assumed it could have something to do with Windows 11 but even if I try the compatibility mode, nothing changes.
Moving the game from my main M.2 SSD to my second one didn't help either.
DirectX 12 is up-to-date.
I only have one audio driver (Realtek) and I have no problems whatsoever, just MapleStory doesn't want to play sound or even show up as a running game, sadly.
I wrote a support ticket, maybe they could look into it.
Thank you for answering :)
Btw, as for the Nexon launcher I've noticed lately that I can actually run the game separate from the app once it loads MapleStory and I'm certain that wasn't a thing prior to the recent updates. I also ended up having to relocate both versions to a completely clean SSD to get them to load before the most recent 64-bit update so I feel your pain on that one. I'm just glad I had a spare one sitting around in my system as that solution was the only one the Nexon tech (I was elevated to) could come up with when I sent a support ticket for extremely slow load times (nearly an hour before the Wizet logo came up at the time). But yeah I have 2 1TB M.2's (one for MapleStory alone now) & 1 4TB SATA I run everything off and rest of my sys specs are on my profile.
Completely unrelated to MapleStory but apparently there's a known issue with certain RealTek drivers & chipsets. Ran into the issue myself just now where even though they claim surround sound is supported in reality it is not. I was forced to back-date my driver (to a known good/stable) & reboot my mobo just to get the sound chip back up again but everything was still running great on the board without issues/errors--just everything running & sound crashed to zilch. I didn't even get an error code or anything just sound at the time stopped and it refused to respond whatsoever and yes I do have several troubleshooting kits and tools (both digital & analog) on-hand for analysis. So head's up if you're using any RealTek cards/onboard chipsets out there. I wouldn't even mess with the surround sound button through device manager or any mobo tweaking tool tbh as it seems extremely touchy to the voltage changes for whatever reason then it's onboard controller just gives up. So I left it at the default stereo but bumped it up to 32-bit/192kHz w/enhancements & exclusive mode off and it seems to be pretty happy with that.
Apologies for wall just attempting to be helpful & thorough.
Very much appreciated. I'll look into it and give an update. Might just reset my PC and don't bother with Realtek at all and let Windows handle all the updates. Also, support told me to check if a clean boot/Windows with safety options will do something. We'll see, thanks again.
