they are free way less grindie as they have better exp/drop rates and tons of custom quests and items

for me OP should start with normal legit maplestory server because it's not overloaded with features like in private servers

its fun, but grindy. especially in the late game. but if you join a guild its alot more fun. I love the style and art of the game and the seemingly endless** amount of content.

** the amount of content can be overwhelming tho... and by the end game you are really only able to choose from a small selection of top tier gear and weapons.

That's not how they are all the time. At least we get an MS classic with private servers since nexon just wants to ignore that market. I would legit pay like 5.99 a month for it but noooooooo.

The game itself is not bad but there are naysayers and trolls in this game like all other mmos out there. If you don't enjoy 2d/3d platform side-scrolling-type games with stories and npc interactions (it reminds me a lot of SNES graphics if I'm being honest) then you probably won't like this game. However, there's a reason it has a dedicated players/fan-base and some folks keep coming back to it regardless of the changes. Also the overseas versions have much larger player-bases.

I mean for goodness sake there was literally a player in world chat last night (right after the most recent patch) calling the game publishers extremely offensive racial slurs so it's no real surprise there are going to be meme-ish replies to a topic like this. Tbh numerous adjustments have been made to the game so it's literally like eating cake/pie to level-cap almost any job class. So, either try the game for yourself and see how it is or don't and move on to something else more your speed or thrill whatever that may be.

Don't listen to the people who say don't play the game they're just older players who are pretty much salty or have nostalgia glasses on. You should only play if you're looking for a main mmo that you can play every day for 30 minutes or an hour or more depending on your progression. There are plenty of guilds and guides online, especially streamers who are more than willing to help out newer players. The game does have some issues but so does every other game, the grind only really begins when you hit 250 my main is at 234, and just from an hour or so of grinding a day I get about 10% without trying, gearing kind of sucks right now since it is very rng dependent or money dependent if you want to "pay to win" but it's not really a problem if you play on reboot if you want to be strictly F2P. It gets plenty of updates and events although you might grow stale from them but it's very consistent and allows you to easily make progress from the consistency of them which is a plus kind of, but they do have 2 big updates a year or so, but they generally refresh and add new contents throughout that are smaller as well.
