Unable to Launch Game

Cannot launch the game off of a fresh install. Have tried installing from Nexon launcher, manually downloading each part and running the exe, and from Steam

Windows 8.1 Google Chrome, have tried FireFox. Have tried disabling antivirus and running Have done a manual update for BlackCipher and HackShield

Have tried running in compatibility for Windows XP, 7, and 8. Have tried running as administrator.

Nexon's suggestion was installing another operating system.
Any ideas?

I have nothing to do with Nexon and how useless they are, but I would like to extend some help to you.
I'm also running on Windows 8.1, but I run MapleStory through Steam with no problems, but I've had StackHash errors in the past with other applications.

Follow this method and hope for the best xD

1. Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings
2. Under "Performance" click "Settings" > click on "Data Prevention Execution"
3. Click on "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select"
4. Click on "Add" > Wherever you saved "MapleStory.exe" add it to the list.
5. Click on "Apply" or "OK".

If that doesn't work, go with Nexon's generic answer, but downgrade to Windows 7 or XP. Tried both of those OS and have no problem with MapleStory. Vista's not recommended because it's crap.

Had the same problem, it was solved after I restarted my computer, THEN redownloaded the file .-.

is graphic card up to date ? maybe OpenAl missing ? maple story is old for windows 8.1 try to run on compatibility xp sp3

I think it's a video card problem. What video card do you have?

Try to update your video card drivers, and try again.

Video card is GeForce GTX670MX and the drivers are up to date. Tried XP SP3 compat and it's still giving the error.
