Hey there,
Back in 2007, I was playing this game. And at this time, we were able to equip stuff for look only. So I had a comon armor equiped just for the style with a transparent hat and everything.

When I logged again last week, my character name was gone and replaced by fancy chain of numbers... and all my equipments that were for stylish look only were in my inventory... did they remove that feature? or is it for NX items only anymore? I'm lost and disapointed. :(

Your "fancy armor" probably expired, as most NX cash armor does. Many months ago, Nexon decided to send out a patch to change every character's name to a chain of numbers to open up names. This patch only affected characters that haven't been used since 2 years before that patch was effective.

Meaning that if a character has not been used at all in the time period of 2014-2016, its name was changed to a random series of numbers to free up character names.

And yes, I sent a ticket to Nexon to get back my name on my character. A chain of number is absolutely aweful and dumb name! :P At least, if they removed names, they could just give the possibility to rename character on next login. A bit lazy Nexon!

Werent we able to equip non NxShop item as cosmetic stuff before?

Not to my knowledge, no. You were only ever to equip Nx cash equips as a cosmetic equip
