Doing party quests actually more often than not hindered character leveling due to the time spent finding a party, finding a channel, then the chance that you would lose your channel to another party. It could be faster if you had a group of friends that all got on at the same time and locked down a channel to pq on, but that's an elitist mindset which a majority of the playerbase didn't have.
Also trust me, the exp slows down. I'm currently level 250 and I'm gaining exp at the same rate as a level 191 Pre-bigbang.
Idk what's with nostalgia players that think slow = better
People just remember fondly the slow level up because they were doing anything but trying to get exp, talking to people is something that is not unique to the game
