Crashes on start up.
I have tried re-installing the game but this still happens consistently. Every time I verfiy the integrity of the game it says 2 files failed to validate and will be reacquired. Sometimes it will let me into the game after this but upon relaunching the game after closing it, It will crash on start up again and if I reverify the files again. It will say 2 files failed to validate. This ♥♥♥♥ actually happened right after a fresh install. I launched the game and it crashed on startup. verified the integrity. said 2 files failed to validate. As of now I just have to get lucky and hope that one of the times I launch the game it just so happens to go through. then I have to hope it doesn't randomly crash. If anyone has any ideas on how to stop this consistent crashing I am game.

I am sorry to hear you have this issue as well. Hopefully someone who knows what is going on with this will see this post and be able to help us out.

This game is literally on maintenance right now.

I am trying to make sure I don't misunderstand your comment. I am not sure if you mean this as in you are having issues as well. Or you didn't look at the date of our posts and are making a claim that our issues are being caused by maintenance.

Delete all instances of maple from ur drive. After that make sure no instances of nexon folders exsist. After that try to download maplestory from the official site. Also note if u have virus scanners go ahead and turn it off while downloading and playing it will help out alot. Gl happy mapling

i tried that and even deleted it from steam and just using the nexon launcher but i just keep getting the same thing. loads up to the hack shield thing and then closes and the game never opens up.
it gets as far as the channel select screen on my windows 10 all in one computer and then it freezes and then i had to reboot my computer from the power switch on the side just to terminate maplestory and get back to my computer so i can play something else. :(

Not sure if anyone from the beginning of this thread is still having issues or not but I troubleshoot IT/software for a living and I've had issues with MapleStory on and off for years now (depending on what they try to patch/change in updates, ugh). Anyway, listed below are some steps I've tried that have helped me--maybe they can help you since my MapleStory installs are all playing great now! Here goes:

1. Ensure you've allowed the MapleStory exe file through your firewall--not too hard even for a novice, just check the properties of the shortcut for the file location then Control Panel->Firewall->Allow an app through Windows Firewall->Change Settings->Allow another app->Browse->paste the file location from the shortcut and hit enter then select the Maplestory GameLauncher exe file.

2. Ensure you've added MapleStory's files into your antivirus solution as exceptions. The reason for this step is so that Nexon can change the contents of those files as needed during updates without throwing false positives from your antivirus--and yes, it has happened before. The list of files to include are: Maplestory.exe, GameLauncher.exe, BlackCipher.aes, Patcher.exe, and Setup.exe. Also to prevent compatibility issues I've found it best to give the exe files admin access.

3. Make sure your graphics card drivers, java, flash, etc are up-to-date! Yup, I know this should be self-explanatory but you'd be surprised how many times something stops working simply due to an outdated hardware driver on one side and a software update on the other. It pays to check on things and stay in contact with the manufacturers of your equipment!

Anyway, apologies for going on a bit, but I hope this helps get you back gaming quickly and Happy New Year! :steamhappy:
