Western Japan Additional Objective

Anyone find this? The additional objectives are by far one of the most difficult aspects of the game. Finding a random tile on a big map that triggers the event. Sometimes it can be kind of obvious in terms of location but I've scoured every inch of Western Japan and haven't find the tile that triggers this hidden event.

Anyone manage to land on this tile yet?

The additional objective in western japan is a buried treasure chest, so you need to either find the map that points to it or use a jacob's cane to find it.

Ah that makes so much sense. I always forget about digging. I've yet to find a port that sells Jacob's cane. Only had one in the game so far

I think you get given one cane but other than that you need to upgrade an item shop by building a guild. Then they sell them. I don't know how far to upgrade it or if all of them sell them.

Oh and if you get a few just save and go in and use them up exposing the map, note the spot and reload.

Any port with an item store that hits 40k population will sell a single Jacob's Cane each month. Unlike Ship Material stores and Equipment stores, Item store doesn't get any other benefits from upping population.
I had to savescum my way through with my first cane A LOT, loading whenever it broke.

Really? Somehow I had an item store selling multiple Jacobs canes but I cannot say when or where. I am reasonably confidant it was one I guild upgraded.

I've occasionally seen them sell multiple but never consistently. Like a port may sell two one month and then back to one the next month.

This is all great info, thanks for sharing. Been really playing the heck out of this game. I've missed uncharted waters so much. I was meandering my way through uncharted waters gaiden recently using phone google translate which has really come a long way.
