They go up to Funcom, tell them that they'll raise their player base, with a large chunk for Steam, and hey presto. Funcom cannot compete to market an MMORPG like AoC against Steam. So it makes sense. Now Funcom are happy as their f2play model is making money with all the new players, and Steam is happy because it is growing its monopoly of the market,
