Here's a general tip to help you get the flow down.
When you're not just mashing the 3 link auto combos, a good rule when it comes to input timing is to finish the next move by the time the prior move makes contact.
Example: You're mashing lights to auto combo and want to cancel into a special move. When the 3rd hit in the auto combo lands is the moment you want to push your special button to get the special out. If you do it right, it'll combo (Assuming the move isn't too slow to start-up, but that's frame data stuff that might be too much to absorb right now).
i honestly dont see big difference between 2D games such as GB/SF/GG/MB/BB/DB/whateverelse is in the radar except the art style and gauge usage (and probably the speed or pacing i dunno)
so if you played other 2Ds it shouldnt be much problem to get the grasp on things
What I've done is basically play street fighter 6 while consciously trying to get a hang of it on ranked mode and grind the ♥♥♥♥ out of some medium lvl combos for my character until I could get them with a degree of consistency in game. Guess that's all it really boils down to; look for a character that seems fun, watch someone play and pick a couple of his combos, use them to have fun until you need to get better ones to deal with your ranks competition, rinse and repeat till the gatling and cancel system is second nature to you.
If you can't see all the difference between BlazBlue and SF ask yourself if fighting games are really for you.
