"Is this game gay?" For the curious:
This is the gayest fighting game ever there's a lesbian who summons her actual wife and embraces her in the victory screen. there is a bisexual demon dude who makes horny comments at the whole cast. theres a hyper flamboyant wrestler transfem, protective knight lesbian, murder lesbian, and im pretty sure theres like 12 others i haven't seen.

i can tell you firmly that yes, if a character acts gay its not woke pandering or nothing like that. its just how they are. but grapplers arent people

So I do have to know him somehow from the past.
I met a lot of crazy people in the SF4, early SF5 days. Some have developed an..... unhealthy obsession with me for some reason.

I prefer people like Fish tho, you can have a talk, have different opinions, shake hands and walk away without bad blood.
Appreciate that comment.

I'm here to make a stance 'cause I have an issue with the way OP's post is worded. It's a shame to see so many either did not read what I wrote in detail, misunderstood, or twisting my words to fit a different narrative.
Well, here is not as bad as Final Fantasy XIV's huge headcanon over these 2 female teenage characters named Ryne and Gaia, the whole LGBTQ+ crowd are praising and cheering for gay representation because they cared for each other and at the end of their Eden Raid story there was a multicolored crystal like a rainbow (Even though the crystals color represents the Elements of Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light and Darkness) and if you rebuke them that Ryne and Gaia are just very close friends and not lesbians, you are name called as everything in their LGBTQ+ vocabulary.

While I support this ship.

I have come across the crazy people who explode the moment someone doesn't.
FF and especialy FF14 aren't new to sexual undertones and some people go way to crazy over things like this.
I tend to stay far, far away from them, them and Limsa as a whole.

It's as I said, shipping arguments are some of the most unhinged out there. Artists get death threats regularly in the Genshin community for drawing ships that aren't what the deranged crowd prefers. Someone is going to get killed one of these days by these lunatics for the "crime" of drawing an anime man and an anime girl kissing.

And it's the same manic, dangerous energy that shows up in debates like OP's too.

Shippers are something else.. they went ballistic at the Lycoris Recoil writers for the dorky underaged girls not acting like Baldur's Gate party members at the end of the anime so that they can say the anime "belongs to the LGBT community" or something..

I've only ever met FFXIV shippers on websites and never in the actual game lmao..

as someone who has been playing the actual granblue mobile/browser game for years, yes this game is gay and has tons of lgbt characters. out of the characters that are in granblue versus, sandalphon is canonically gay and in love with lucifer, vira is canonically a lesbian and in love with katalina, cagliostro is canonically transgender and made her body herself via alchemy, and a majority of the cast is canonically bisexual. your favorite playable character in this game is most likely bisexual. also, there are canon nonbinary characters that use non-gendered pronouns

two girls literally kissed on screen in a story event this year. go to the granblue wiki, type "unbound asterism" and go into the gallery. you'll find the CG of them kissing in there. granblue is and always has been gay

japan doesn't consider non-straight and non-cisgender identities as being political. lgbt characters have always existed in japanese media. i don't understand what's so hard to understand about that

When something has suggestive themes in the source material that is not "canonical", that only meant there is room to interpret it as gay but that's not the same as stating something as a fact because there are other in game facts to suggest different interpretations.

Sandalphon longed for Lucifer's attention 'cause he wanted to be useful to him. This can easily be interpreted a child seeking attention from a parental figure. In fact, the time when he lashed out is very akin to a child throwing a tantrum when he's not getting the attention he wanted (he was in fact acting very childish in that first act of the trilogy). You CAN interpret this as being gay, but this is not "canonically stated" that he is gay. There is a difference there.

Vira I've already covered. She is really close, and I am personally pro Vira x katalina myself. However, the only thing that's really been canonically established is her own obsession towards Katalina. You can easily interpret that as a bond more akin to family as she sees katalina as an elder sister (and she literally calls her one in the original Japanese script). Not to mention, as Vira becomes less and less yandere-like and as she gets a lot more normal, this obsessive tendency towards Katalina saw a drastic decrease.

Cagliostro is trans I agree, but again, I don't see how that fits into the discussion of being gay (since that's what OP's post is about). She has shown no real romantic interest towards anyone so how do we even say she's gay when her orientation is unknown?

As for most of the playable characters being bisexual, there are several that have story hints at that, but let's not forget that the majority of the cast during their Valentine days and White day dialogue only works for one specific gender.

As for unbound asterism, yeah I have no issue with this example as this one I agree is pretty clear cut.
----------------
I'll clarify again, there are representations yes, and there is plenty of ambiguity up to interpretation.

HOWEVER, to state one's own interpretation as fact or cannon while disregarding other in-game facts is disingenuous or straight up intentionally twisting narrative to fit one's perspective.

Katalina is vrynsexual.

Vira is definitely gay as ♥♥♥♥. I remember one of her fate episodes practically confessed to katalina, and Katalina replied she’ll give her a proper response someday. Now, I haven’t played the mobage for 2 years now. I wasn’t dreaming this was i?

Yuel isn't a lesbian. Vira is, and this version of her in Rising is not the final representative since she's changed (but, she's still the same, loves Katalina) in the main game which is the browser game. Katalina is kind of considered as one, but this version of the game isn't the same one as the actual game (which, in the actual game, she's opened up to Vira and their relationship's close to being a couple since both sides are still waiting for a good time to confess), so, only one. Belial is accurate. Ladiva is accurate. Cagliostro. There's Lucilius (FAA), Sandalphon, the main game had a variety of chars that are pretty much appealing for various type of people. It's not that the rest of the cast is bisexual. They don't NEED to act like they're bisexual, this is what you find out yourself because that's not the point of the game. It's not for the sake of woke, just how they are. This kind of discussion is pretty much relegating to "Twitter moment" because people complains about muh sexuality. If you're THAT obsessive, go play Strive or something. Or go to Reddit, complain about it, or Twitter, or Guestbook.

For KataVira you might want to search up Grand Vira's fate episode. That should prove my point. https://gbf.wiki/Vira_(Grand)/Lore even if you don't want to play the main game. it sucks anyways HAHAHAHAHAHA
