Returning Player & Legacy Transfer Guide

Note: Here[secretworldlegends.com] is the original (First) legacy transfers announcement and here[secretworldlegends.com] is the Funcom Points to Aurum transfer info. Note that the First Legacy Transfer is no longer available, and neither is the Funcom Points to Aurum transfer, though there is a Second Legacy Transfer (called the "Vanity Transfer"), with some changes, available. Here[redd.it] is the Second Legacy "Vanity" Transfer announcement.

Please read the entire guide and the links before asking questions, and please do not post complaints in this thread about Funcom and the relaunch as this is not the place to do so, thank you!

To begin, welcome back! As you may have noticed, The Secret World (TSW) has been replaced by Secret World Legends (SWL). SWL is a relaunch of TSW, with semi-new combat, improved game flow, DLC now free and merged into the storyline, some improved graphics, new character creation, and new character progression, among many other things. You can find more info about this relaunch through the FAQ[secretworldlegends.com], the Beginner's Guide[www.tswdb.com], and this post. Because of this relaunch and overhaul to the game systems, characters could not transfer between both games. Don't panic though! All of your vanity (clothes, emotes, pets, and sprints, not titles) are transferable to SWL, which means that once you complete the transfer, you can create a new character and still have all your precious vanity. Hurry though, as the transfer window may not last forever! Unfortunately, this does mean all players must start from scratch, however, your TSW characters remain safe on the TSW servers for you to return to at any time. If you want new content though, you must start over on SWL and work your way through the storyline. With the new updates though, this should be easier than it was in TSW.

Note: Being linked to Steam does not matter. You can transfer regardless of which client you use.

~ First: It is recommended that you download TSW (not SWL) to make sure all of your vanity is claimed on your characters and not sitting in your inventory, etc. To download the original TSW, please go to your account[register.thesecretworld.com] and download it. Make sure to follow these steps so the launcher doesn't update to SWL. If you still have auto-renew membership and do not play TSW anymore, cancel it after you transfer.

~ Second: Even if you don't plan on playing SWL, at least do the transfer to ensure that if you do try SWL, you still get your vanity. Nothing worse than deciding to try something finally, only to have lost out on stuff because of anger, etc.

~ Third: It is not an actual transfer, just a copy. Your TSW stuff remains on your TSW character(s), while your SWL character(s) now get the same stuff. Anything earned on TSW after the transfer will not go to your SWL character(s). It is a one time transfer only, and it does not update!

~ Fourth: Customer Service is not helping correct any mistakes, other than technical issues on their side. If you forget to claim an item, they will not help you. That is why it is important to download the TSW client, make sure everything is okay (follow the "Increasing Your Transfer Value" guide down below), then transfer. I know that is annoying if you have slow internet and limited time, but your money's worth is more important. Now that the second transfer is indefinite, please take this process slowly.

~ Fifth: The bonuses and what transfers.

• What transfers:
  
  • Only about 99% of the clothes, pets, and sprints transfer. For a list of vanity items that don't transfer and what is now exclusive, please refer to here.
    
  • Titles, achievements, your characters, in-game currency, and items like weapons/talismans/signets/moulds, etc. do not transfer. Vanity, not titles of course, earned via achievements do transfer.
    
  • Emotes transfer, but inventory emotes (like Ricky's Boombox) do not transfer.
    
  • Makeup does not transfer.
    
  • Funcom Points transfer, but only before and after a certain date, so please refer to here[secretworldlegends.com] for more info. The end date for that has passed, so please refer to the "Increasing Your Transfer Value" guide down below on what to buy with your Funcom Points instead. Bonus Points do not transfer.
    
  • Membership transfers, including Grandmasters/Lifetime subs. Membership does not transfer for the Second Transfer. If you are a Grandmaster/Lifetimer, you must contact Customer Service and have them transfer your GM status for you.
  
  
• The bonuses:
  
  • You get all of your vanity, not including the stuff that didn't transfer. Some items are more expensive now, others are cheaper, some are now exclusive, and others have been split into a bunch of pieces with higher prices. Be glad you bought or earned those items beforehand!
    
  • GM's still get lifetime access, and are now known as Lifetime Patron. The monthly stipend has been removed, along with our Item Store discounts, but we now receive a free cache key every day that we login, among some other bonuses.[i.imgur.com]
    
  • Two new exclusive vanity items if you bought the Issues/Ultimate/Complete editions, a sprint called Third Age Ornithopter[rovena.poggie.de] (will be gold, not silver, this is Steam version from a bundle) and an outfit called Moon Raven Garb (male[rovena.poggie.de] version, female[rovena.poggie.de] version). Even if you don't transfer, these will be available in your Delivered Items.
    
  • All weapon pages (not the actives or passives) are unlocked for free. (Does not unlock for Second Transfers.)
    
  • You get two extra character slots (which makes 3 total). (Does not unlock for Second Transfers.)

~ Sixth: Here is some extra info about this second transfer (for people who did the First one).

• DO NOT DELETE YOUR TSW ALTS! If you did the First Transfer and delete an alt, you will lose your vanity that was connected to that alt on any future SWL characters for the Second Transfer. Previous SWL alts will be able to claim the new vanity and keep the old vanity they already claimed. But if you plan on making more SWL alts, or your characters get deleted, etc., you will not receive previous vanity from deleted TSW characters! Confirmed by Chris T here[i.imgur.com].
  
• If you claimed your vanity on your SWL characters already, you will be able to do so again.
  
• If you are a GM/Patron and already did the first transfer, your membership will be fine. This second transfer is only for vanity, so everything else, including GM/Patron, will be ignored when the system looks at your account to copy the vanity.
  
• It is still a one-time transfer. Gather everything you want before doing the Second Transfer. I doubt Funcom is going to do a third transfer if you screw up the Second one, so spend your time and money wisely. Again, refer to the guide linked below so you do this properly. There is no end date at the moment either, so please take your time gathering what you need instead of rushing (do group content and AH shopping/selling now though).

Note: Some items are now exclusive! The page I linked of non-transferrable vanity also has a started (not completed) list of exclusive items from TSW. I recommend earning as many items as possible before transferring, so please follow the "Increasing Your Transfer Value" guide linked down below.

Eligibility

To begin, only accounts in good standing (not banned or a trial account) made before June 22nd, 2017 are eligible for the legacy transfer. Anything made after is not considered eligible, so please do not buy any TSW keys to try and get the bonuses. You will only be wasting money. However, if you just want to play TSW, keys are still valid, though I am not sure how long this will last.

If you are not sure you are eligible, log into the SWL account page[account.secretworldlegends.com] with your TSW credentials. If the website tells you to log in with your Steam credentials instead, do so. This means you originally bought and played TSW on Steam, so your SWL account is now linked to your Steam account. If you decide you no longer want to play through Steam, select the "Convert to Funcom account" option under Account Information on the account page; however, this is a one time process and cannot be reversed. If your account isn't linked to Steam but you want to play through Steam, please select the "Convert to Steam account" option instead. For more information, please refer to the Steam Launch Info[secretworldlegends.com] post.

Once you are logged in, there should be a button on the right under Account Services that says "TSW Legacy Transfer" (image here[i.imgur.com]).
However, if you haven't been active for a while, do not click that button just yet! There were changes to pets, the addition of sprints, etc. so you need to make sure everything is claimed on your account. Not only that, but you want to spend any remaining currency to buy as many items as possible. The new currency, Marks of Favour (MoF), has only a few ways to obtain it, so you have to decide if vanity or gear progression is more important now, unless you are willing to spend real money or grind a long time. If you aren't interested in spending the rest of your currency, or making sure your items are claimed, skip to the bottom section labeled "Transfer Process"! Please keep in mind that any mistakes will not be fixed, so I highly recommend downloading TSW and following the "Increasing Your Transfer Value" guide.

Increasing Your Transfer Value

Or in other words, the "Vanity Items Transfer, How to not F*ck it up" guide. This section has been vastly improved with the help of a wonderful member! To see it and increase your transfer value, please refer to here. The guide is done, minus any errors, some optional pics, etc.

We cover:
1) Redeemable Codes
2) Claiming process for your vanity and the codes you just used
3) What to buy with your Funcom/Bonus Points, Veteran Points, Pax, Black Bullion, and Lucky Coins to save the most money. As mentioned before, some items are now more expensive in SWL, and we cover what they are so you don't waste your time grinding for the money or buying them outright.
4) What achievements and missions to do, as well as encouraging you to earn any deck outfits you want.

Note: Do not use account wide purchases when shopping in the Item Store! Account wide purchases are only for the same gender, not both genders!

Also, clothes are gender locked and not unisex. If you want a specific t-shirt on your male in SWL, you need to unlock it on a male in TSW before the transfer. Owning that specific t-shirt on a female will not make it available for your male, and vice versa. This goes for all cosmetics.

The same thing applies to faction clothes. If you want a faction colored item from each faction, you must make an alt of the gender and faction you want, then earn/buy that item on each alt. One for your Templar, one for your Illuminati, and one for your Dragon. Gender restrictions apply as well!

Transfer Process

Once all of that is done, and I recommend giving it a few hours to update just in case, transfer! Log back into the SWL account page[account.secretworldlegends.com], click that legacy transfer button, hit confirm, and you should see something like this[i.imgur.com]. You will need to go in-game and check to see if the transfer worked. Make a character*, head to Agartha, then open Delivered Items or type in /delivereditems, and the window will pop up. Click the "Claim TSW Vanity" button at the bottom of the window, as seen here[i.imgur.com]. You will then receive all your vanity items! The game may freeze for a second as a ton of stuff is unlocking, including some clothes/pets/sprints achievements**, so just wait patiently for the game to catch up.

And you're done! :) All your vanity should now be available*** for your main and any alts you make (repeat the claiming process in Agartha for alts). This also means that even if you delete a character, you have permanent access to your vanity from TSW now.

Also, if the legacy transfer didn't work, please contact Customer Service or Community Manager (Andy B). We can't help you with account issues!

*Hopefully you were around to reserve your name! Also, the character customization has changed, so recreating your character may be difficult. And the barber/surgeon are now in the game! The barber costs 7500 MOF, while the surgeon is 110k MOF, so make a character you like, or you will have to pay a hefty price to change their appearance.

**The vanity collecting achievements are currently bugged for legacy transfers. Some activate, others won't, despite having the necessary amount. The devs are aware of the problem and are planning to fix it.

***Some items are currently hidden due to bad tagging, so are inaccessible without the use of a mod. Please download Elgå[mods.curse.com], meeehrUI-Topbar[mods.curse.com], or Fashionista[mods.curse.com] to be able to access them. I personally recommend meeehrUI-Topbar because it still functions well, and if you plan to use the other mods that still work from TSW, having the topbar will be helpful to access settings and keep the icons organized. Fashionista only shows previously saved outfits, so isn't very useful for accessing anything you've never saved before. Elga works too, but some things don't function (I forgot what the specific issue was).

With my old TSW account having a lifetime membership, tried and could not get anything transfered or linked via my steam account. Even contacted Customer Service but they been unhelpful. Am deaf so cannot use voice.

It seems like customer support is... lacking, to put it mildly. You can try opening an email ticket outside of the game as well as an in-game ticket since they are addressed via seperate departments, but... odds are they won't actually DO anything. It is possible that the data is there on your account and just was unable to be applied to your character in which case any random patch could suddenly re-enable that in-game "claim vanity items" button - so if the tickets do not solve anything you might still find your issue solved after a random patch that doesn't even contain mention of such a fix.

I've talked with the live chat. They told me that the TSWL account created by Steam it's not the same than my TSW account. It's really weird, because I used to play TSW throught Steam so I just updated the game to TSWL. But they said that even with the same email and username it does not work.
Their solution: to download client of TSWL outside Steam and with the same account (SO WEIRD) play again. My new TSWL character will not be there and I'll lose it (16 hours, I know it's not so much but hate play again the same content), but I'll have my legacy items. Very unsatisfied with the solucion.

Try this first; launch SWL from steam, click "acount," log in with your TSW credentials and tell me what is in the right, upper box once you've logged in.

Well, I just did my last try... I linked the account to Steam and... Surprise. My character is erased but I have 3 character slots, so I have the legacy content but have to level up again.

Did you have more than one account linked to Steam for TSW? Even a family members account? If there was more than one account they were unlinked from Steam during the relaunch, which then requires you to link again in order to play through Steam.

My old TSW account will not accept my current name and password, originally bought the game direct from Funcom. Followed the directions and downloaded the TSW client and installed it. Tried to put in my name and password that had written down but not used for over 4 years and came back as invaild name and password. Even used the recover password feature, no such luck then remembered changed email address. Sent in a help request to Funcom support, they never replied.

Decided to forget it, that old account with Gamemaster Pack and Lifetime Membership is most likely out of reach and uninstalled the old client and installed the free the play client via steam.

Well that counts me out, funcom finally sent me a email, tried several times with two different browsers Firefox and Microsoft Edge, it appears my old account info is not working so cannot login to even use the funcom client to make the transfer of my Game Master + Lifetime to Steam Account Free To Play client which btw thanks to steam support my steam account info now works with Steam's SWL free to play client. (my old TSW account info does not work with steam version of SWL (tried it to check to see if it will work or not).

I took part in the Legacy Transfer & got most of my vanity items/sprints/pets copied across to SWL and the additional x2 character slots as well as the transfer of subscriber membership of TSW to Patron Status in SWL however, I have found the so called 'Patron Rewards' hugely underwhelming so I am seriously considering cancelling my Patron Status.

That being said, my question is this;
If I cancel my subscription I know the Patron rewards will go with it but, do I then lose access to my extra x2 character slots and my vanity items/sprints/pets as well or are they kept separately from subscription as the Legacy transfer was an unconnected process?

I have looked on the net but can't seem to find a clear answer for some reason!

Now because I know how these things go on forums, before anyone answers please consider the following;

1. I have no interest in anyone's personal opinion as to why I want to stop or why I have a subscription.
2. I am looking for factual answers to my question not; 'what a dumb question!' or anything even vaguely troll related.
