launcher stuck at patching local files

It's been sitting at "269 KB/269 KB 6/7" for about 10 minutes now. Where it would normally show a rate is just dashes. I've tried restarting the launcher several time. I tried the repair broken data option but it just changes the button to repair pending, apparently because it wants to finish doing whatever it's stuck trying to do. I can see if the file was gigabytes (though I'm on a super fast SSD) but whatever file it's talking about is only 269 KB, so the best I can figure is something is corrupted or stuck somehow.

Is my only option to totally uninstall and reinstall the game??

So I checked in task manager > details under "clientpatcher.exe" and it's apparently not doing nothing: looking at I/O read bytes and I/O write bytes, there are fairly large, static values there, but under I/O other bytes I can see the value steadily increasing, but at a very very slow rate, maybe 20 or 30 bytes every few seconds. When I open the "analyze wait chain" window on clientpatcher.exe, it states that "one or more threads are waiting to finish network I/O".

So on one hand it doesn't seem like the process is totally hung, but whatever it's doing it's doing it at a very very slow rate, if it's actually accomplishing anything at all.

It would be really nice if the launcher interface gave better information to give some kind of positive indication that it's actually doing something. Aside from that, what reason could there be for things to take so incredibly long.

Is it likely that I do actually need to reinstall or should I just wait all day before deciding something is really wrong??

If you run a repair, (you have to catch it before it tries to download the patch) it says "Fatal Error: Unable to locate "Roothash" key in patch information."

After letting the launcher sit for a while, I didn't time it, it is now moving again and patching the resource database with a clear sign that numbers are moving. Hope this works this time.

same issues getting very frustrating, especially sense i'm trying to figure out why this game runs at 20fps with a modern laptop and i cant even get it to patch a kb sized file.......

Maybe a maintenance. But impossible to see status server ><

For me the patcher log says:

*** UnKnown can't find update.secretworld.com: No response from server

So there's probably server issues. So much for my cabal raid today.

Just wanted to report back that after letting the launcher sit at the stage noted in my original comment, it did eventually progress to the "rdb hashes" stage and finally complete. I didn't time it, but it must have been upwards of 10 minutes or more.

Confirming also that after waiting for an extended period of time, eventually the download finished and I have been able to play.
