Because it's still intellectual property?
Except its roadmap was abandoned, we never got multiplayer, and Linux support was dropped entirely AFTER it was promised to people who paid money for it.
As well as other fun and exciting[yal.cc] things the Forager dev got up to, that game is not worth your money and even if another game is a total ripoff, I'd rather pay for that.
Visually, they look very similar. Some mechanics are also similar: the biome thing, the furnace/building stuff, fighting underground.
I have spent several hours playing Foragers, and I've spent like half an hour on this game.
As long as the developer of Forager does not complain, I guess I will see how this game goes on.
After the multiplayer drama happened, Forager has been abandoned, by the way. Of course the developer still holds the rights, but I guess they may be okay with similar games being out.
Edit: after playing a little bit more, I am impressed by this game. I still agree that it is "very" inspired by forager, but it has its twists.
That's not how IPs work.
This game is different. It has different style, mechanics, and more.
There is no such thing as truly original, the point you are making is idiotic. Minecraft didn't create heart healthbars nor is the design innovative. Are you 10? Do you not realize how much Minecraft "ripped off" according to your standard?
