General vs Legatus
Hi guys,
I wanted to know what are the differences between a legatus or a general, in a multiplayer battle, which one should I use and why?

Historically, Legatus WAS the general.

Though, gameplay I think Legatus represents earlier era generals and general's bodyguard is later Roman empire.

Just compare the stats and see which is for you.

Flip that around actually. You start with late game generals for some reason. Look at your admiral; legions when it should be principes. The Legatus is an upgrade to general and bodyguard you get when you research the level IV barracks.

Well,..actually

It's a representative, "the title was used both for Ambassadors and Senior Officers who acted on teh behalf of a governor.- who were invariably senators.*

IIRC the legatus is a heavier unit with ess offensive capabilities than the G&BG but is 20 talents cheaper. It [Legatus] is a Marian/Early Imperial general while the G&BG is Maniplar era.
