Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Horses, stables.
I'm missing something here... I'm playing as Rome, and I can't see how in the technology tree I get to recruit cavalry/build stables. Anyone tell me what I need for them?

Some factions get cavalry through regular barracks, I think rome may be one of them, I know the hellenic factions get them that way. You get them through the infantry building tree.
OK, from the top. What is "the infantry building tree". I can't recruit them on the recruit tab. I've got war dogs (wtf?)... but it's hard to ride a dog.
The regular Roman recruitment building chain will provide cavalry, no stables needed. If you only have war dogs as a recruitable unit you probably have the auxiliary recruitment building, which gives you different units depending on the region it is constructed in.

Nope, the other one for equites to get cavalry early game. Once the marina reforms come in you get them though the auxilliary barraks
OK, I've got an auxillary barracks and a horse corral in Rome itself already. There are no cavalry units available in the recruit tab still.

The infantry building tree are the regular barracks, rather than the skirmisher building tree which offer the ranged units.

My mistake the romans act differently to what im used to, the auxillery barracks is the roman equivilent to skirmishers but they should offer cav at the building levels 3 and 4

You need the other red bulding with the square shield on it. Forgot the name. If you look at that on the tech tree it will give you triarii, precepts and equite cavalry. I build it rather than the auxiliary barracks initially and then add the auxillary later.

Ah. That's it. Manipular barracks. Thanks very much. Was tearing my hair out.
