Yup 'Working as intended' :D
Sorted; read somewhere that if you goto options > game settings and uncheck 'Show CPU Moves' it fixes the end turn freeze issue.

ITS HAS SORTED MINE - am now playing at turn 49 - was stuck at 38 forever with this end turn freeze. Spread the word/reply if it works for u ;)

so i have the beta patch. which only increases campaign fps. (which i did notice) but that was the only thing that was in the patch so no fix for campaign crashes.
I'm on turn 196. Game crashes when it cycles to the Blemmyes factions, who did not exist before this turn (probably resurgence in some rebel province)

There was a couple of posts on the total war forums that mentioned how you can reload to an earlier save and try to do something drastically different and see if you could change the timeline and not crash.
I had a similar problem on my campaign, the game crashed on end turn whenever it reached a specific faction on the far side of the map.

Managed to solve the problem by declaring war on them from the diplomacy tab. This must have made them change their actions drastically enough to avoid whatever was causing the crash.

The beta patch has 15 crash fixes, 6 of which can happen in campaign mode IIRC ( http://wiki.totalwar.com/w/Total_War_ROME_II:_Patch_2 )
Thinking of everyone trying to play though this game reminds me of this :

Everyone starts and some get further than others but the end result is inevitable.

Getting this same problem as well. Game freezes up and crashes whenever it gets to the turn of the Frisii. Tried turning off follow AI moves and it didn't work. I haven't met the Frisii yet either, so I can't declare war on them or do anything to change whatever actions that faction takes.

Anyone manage to get this fixed?
I was doing ok without crashes for awhile but now I have run into the problem that battles load about 60% then freeze, always on siege and about 1/2 the time.
Same prob here. With beta patch 3 and turned off "show ai movements"... In turn 80 as soon as a certain fraction is active game freezes. :(
i may have solution. At least it worked for me. You need to start parallel campaign, for example, you play with SPARTANS and game starts to freeze on end turn (for me problem began at 38. turn), you need to start with new campaign, for example, ROMANS, and they will be your parallel campaign and every time you get stuck in Spartan campaign you quit the game and load Roman campaign, finish one end turn and save, and then come back to spartan campaign and continue playing. In my case i had to load Romans 3 times and after that Spartans worked just fine, I'm on 78 turn. God be with you
