ITS HAS SORTED MINE - am now playing at turn 49 - was stuck at 38 forever with this end turn freeze. Spread the word/reply if it works for u ;)
There was a couple of posts on the total war forums that mentioned how you can reload to an earlier save and try to do something drastically different and see if you could change the timeline and not crash.
Managed to solve the problem by declaring war on them from the diplomacy tab. This must have made them change their actions drastically enough to avoid whatever was causing the crash.
The beta patch has 15 crash fixes, 6 of which can happen in campaign mode IIRC ( http://wiki.totalwar.com/w/Total_War_ROME_II:_Patch_2 )

Everyone starts and some get further than others but the end result is inevitable.
