I stopped playing this mess.

Yes, you have to babysit them all the time.

yeah its really annoying... I shouldn't have to micromanage all that ♥♥♥♥, they should just engage

Agreed, I've had this, whilst attending to another part of the battle, then when i zoom out, some of my guys are just standing there after defeating who they were originally fighting - Its a little strange.

Its good that they don't chase enemies and end up on the other side of the map if your not watching them and equally annoying that they just stand there when there are other non-routed/fighting enemy units in close proximity, either next too, sometimes, enemy are stood right in front of them fighting another one of my units and just stand there, watching :D

I can appreciate that they don't just go do stuff on their own. A unit that's engaged is a unit that can't walk around the enemy and flank, after all. It's still annoying when they can shot to pieces by javelin men standing five yards away.

I suppose that, if I were to fix this, I'd give the player a notification when a unit has completed their original orders. Just a sound cue, like some soldier going "orders completed" or something, so you know you got more orders to give.

iirc they used to have a system in shogun and medieval (i'm talking the originals here, showing my age) where if you had an impetuous unit for example they might get cocky and charge without orders and if there was a unit 2ft ahead of them they would very likely engage to try and press the advantage. I don't think the feature has been in any games since the 1st two though, might be wrong, although i do remember it being a little borked in MTW 1 as knights would often charge to their doom for no reason across an open field into spearmen and archers.

yeah I agree there should be some kind of limit to their moves but at the same time if theres an enemy spear unit advancing or engaging one of my units and two of my sword units are near by just standing there watching it would be nice if I didn't have to Always tell them to engage someone, like I was fighting an enemy army I moved three of my units around them to flank then ordered them to attack their opened flank they did so destroying the enemy unit then a second enemy moved in to engage and my three units just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stood there like idiots the center unit begin engaged while the two others (not a foot from the one being engaged) literally just stood watching.

on a side note I've played every total war game and this one by far held my highest anticipation as I loved Rome total war and was really hoping this game would match it or best it but as of now it has not... I mean it just came out so I'm hoping they'll patch these issues so I'll wait and see... Either way I love the total war series
