The one that shows 2 banners, click it and then click the one with a banner + lock. You can now move them and keep the formation. Sure it's a bit more work than the arrows in previous games, but it works.
Select your units and press Ctrl +G. Every movement you make with that group will maintain its formation.
This was all covered in the prologue.
You did pay attention to the prologue, right?
. Would be nice if you could make them stay in a formation in terms of position of units BUT alter the length easilly, and a command to make them charge forwards in a line and attack who they meet first WITHOUT coming out of formation would be nice. Its so annoying having to tell each unit 1 by 1 who to attack cos if you don't they all form a mega blob on 1 unit
Not by default, you have to manually lock it.
They changed this and until I read this post I couldn't work out how to fix it...
Everything about the interface in this game is bonkers! It's so unintuitive and restricted... >_<
And to all the idiots saying "why they take out fine controls like the arrows in Shogun 2, derp" just stop. Stop. The controls are still there.
Arrow keys, guys. Arrow keys. You know, on your keyboard. Up, Left, Down and Right. They make your unit move up, left, down and right respectively. You can also hit Ctrl+Left or Ctrl+Right to rotate the unit.
