Family / House System
Does anyone have a clue how the family system works? On one play-through I would actively adopt/assasinate/marry to increase the influence of my house but it seems to trigger a civil war very quickly.

On another play-through I would just ignore the elders (I was playing as germanic Suebi) family system entirely and went around conquering provinces without a care.

I actually think I am more detached from the family system in R2 than Shogun 2. In Shogun 2, it was pretty intuitive managing sons and daughters to make sure each samurai stack had a general in it but with R2, I have no clue who my faction head is; the lack of info or control on children management and where new random members of the family pop up from just causes me to care less about the family system.

Anyone feel the same way? I feel that this whole system is a feature that is completely ignorable and in fact, might be preferable because it is a hassle with seemingly no visible benefits and it breaks any sense of being invested in a family.

I agree completely. Ignoring the whole system seems to work, except the families keep trying to assasinate one another.

It's broken does not do anything to effect your game so don't really need to bother with it.

If you check the link go to 14:53 and you will see a completely different political system they must of simplified it for some reason,CA have made to many broken promises or lied just to line there pockets.

Agree. I'd like to see the family tree at a glance instead of the trash they made.

I hope they bring a part back of the older family and political systems because the way it works now is just very very bad.

Well - I saw a movie clip of some dude with a coin in he's mouth getting burned when I lost the Game..As in a GAME OVER event.. First thing I thought - Who is that guy representing...?!

I thought - Maybe it was the player getting burned.. I dunno...
But the Coin in he's mouth ..like... INSERT COINs!!!!

Not sure what Other houses means.. I figured out that a general in my fleet was pretty well spoken...
And one (1) of the Character 3Dpictures on the left side is your leader.
I dunno.. Still trying to figure it out.

Omg. That UI is 10 times better than what we have. They should also link 14:53 as a guide straight into their bloody encyclopedia. I've been running around mucking about not having a clue what gravitas was or wtf was going on with the Subjects dilemmas (I just picked whatever I felt like at the moment :I )

I cannot emphasize how bad the game's current family UI makes me feel compared to the one in the video. I would literally avoid going to the screen that has it and spend the least amount of time possible in it because navigating it for info or any other purpose made me cringe.
