How do you buy cities?

Hello I'm good friends with athens and wish to buy back sparta from them, anyone know how to do that? I cannot seem to fine the option for that.

Not sure, you could in the previous total war games so I was hoping you could in this one.

Well, they took out that feature in this game. Honestly, I don't think you can peacefully absorb a city into your faction.

The only peaceful way to absorb a city is if you are a barbarian and of their same culture area. Then you can persuade them to create a confederation, whixh absorbs their faction into yours.

Dang. I had a civil war and Athens took Sparta, so I guess i'm Sparta with out Sparta...Makes sence lol.

Lol, my Greece buddy Athens is about to be wiped off the map if they don't give me my city lol

Diplomacy is broken for me, all the AI think they are equally as strong as I am (balance of power bar is always 50/50 on the negotiation screen). So I have these factions I'm about to wipe out demanding me to pay them for a peace treaty, when it should be the other way around...

You buy Cities by writing a Check with your arse and using blood for the ink..:)

Don't forget you also have the option of getting agents to incite unrest, causing a rebellion again and recapturing the city after, this is the way I usually take cities of allies in Shogun 2, should probably work in rome 2 as I know you can incite unrest.
