Epirus without a chance?
Hello,

I was just wondering...

I started the campaign and played through the initial turns maybe 8-9 times or so. Just to scout the possible start positions. Then I stuck to the basics and am now 60 turns into Roman campaign.

The thing is... every time the first faction to be totally eradicated was Epirus. I haven't seen the AI Epirus survive so far.

Is there anybody playing a campaign where the AI Epirus survived through the beginning of the game and haven't been swallowed by Athens or Macedon?

Epirus has the disadvantage to be sort of wedged in between Macedon and Sparta and Athens. Plus, Sparta and Athens are allied at the start of the game. That just makes it naturally very hard for Epirus to survive all these initial assaults..

Well seems like there's a lot of rise and fall stuff. Rome was destroyed twice in my campaign, only to arise again each time, and now has total control over the entirety of Italy again. It seems like the AI is rather dynamic in these things. Don't remember what happened to Epirus, since I started as the Iceni, they're kinda on the other side of the world.

:D well on my campaign with Ptolemaic in LEG , they sieged Athens several times but eventually after 20 turns they got destroyed,or by Sparta or by Makedonia dont know yet ,5 turns after Carthage time.Historically Epirus didnt took long so ...

Epirus starts with an inherent negative diplo reputation with all other Hellenic states. Which is to say.. all it's neighbors dislike her.

So, yeah, it's a pack of starving hyenas mauling a zebra. It's the only time I see the AI being aggressive - against other AI.

I know and I am waware of this. But seeing them disappear every X-th turn into the new campaign just seems like it was made it this way. Like if the campaign didn't count with the possibility of Epirus making any impact on the virtual history.

I am playing Co-Op me as Rome my friend as Epirus on hard Difficult and just at the first 5 rounds Sparta,Athen,Macedon, and karthago decleared war against him and we try everything to defend his last city and beat Sparta. It's really hard as Epirus even as player.

with me it was carthage (well and epirus. played as sparta so i mushed them into the ground) every turn carthage get destroyed only to rise again the next 2 turn :P oh and egypt has the tendency in my game to wage war with everything they see :P

They are enemies with Macedon and Sparta, maybe even Athens, I can't remember. They are in a bad spot, yeah, but it should be pretty easy to hold out if you're playing as them, as long as you are clever.
