Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Statistiche:
Armor and weapon upgrades visible?
A thread about something ingame for a change:

I play as carthage and upgraded my first troops with better weapons, armor and shields. Now I deliberately upgraded only half so I could check for differences. But it seems like upgrades are not visible, I couldn't even see which units had upgrades, since even the tooltips didn't show it in battle (they did in the campaign).

Has someone tried to do the same? Is it just nor showing or did the upgrades not work at all?

I was wondering this too. I remember in Medieval 2 how upgrading armor also upgraded their appearance and I absolutely loved that. I do not think it happens in Rome 2, however.
There's no visual difference, it's just a weapons/armor quality thing.
I'm sure you will soon be able to buy that feature in a DLC
It just ads hitpoints/ damage to the unit and once they are spend they drop like flies. No visual difference and in battle you cant tell who has wich upgrades. Not that u need upgrades anyways because it is impossible to loose a battle when not a total noob.

Note how Scandinavia is left out to milk the cashcows with Norman dlc.
DARN IT, i loved the visual upgrade thing from mediveil 2, i loved it...CA... why u make me cry T^T
There are 2 types of weapon/armour upgrades, a passive looking one and another which shows up. The passive ones are gained through the trainig tree, the visual ones are gained through the seige weapon tree through the workshop, you only need 1-2 technologies to research it but it is well worth it.

You can upgrade to the blacksmith line but not the training line from the little upgrade troops panel. Horse are invisible but you can also upgrade to level 2 horses, you need to recruit them in the province to get level 3.
The "gold" upgrade armor DOES change visual appearance...
atleast as rome and sparta.
