Whine whine whine
Could you people whine more? Seriously..

Yes the AI needs work.
Yes the battles are too fast.
Yes its very different to Shogun 2.

But for gods sake,
Go back and play the original Rome vanilla one more time, and you'll soon remember, that the old nostalgia of the great strategy you played years ago, was not a masterpiece of strategum genious.

What has Rome 2 brought to the table?

LEGIONS, the concept of armies evolving, gaining character and benefiting from it, not just disapearing after a defeat.

More balanced Campaign gameplay, not just 100's of AI units spawned and thrown at you.

Evolving Empires, as you expand, you have to constantly tweak your provinces to improve, ie, move your economic bases, your naval bases, your sources of food, this constantly enables you to move forward in building the best empire.

Greater emphasis and use for agents.

More general customization, well, providing they survived, which during the era, they often didnt.

New graphics! Yes, they are good! and they do not lagg for me.

.A NEW PLATFORM FOR MODDING

just take a chill pill, enjoy the game for now and wait until they patch it and players mod it.

People that are merely just trolling, its pathetic want to whine? go call your mum, im sure she';ll be a shoulder to cry on. The rest of us find it abit ♥♥♥♥ when we come on here and just see "hahahahah game is ♥♥♥♥ lol" If you havent even played this game for atleast 20 hours, you wont even get a reply from me. 20 hours in and im only just figuring out how to build an effective empire.

For those actually experiencing lagg and game breaking issues, you've got my sympathy, whine away.

i disagree with pdwd. altho i havent owned many total war games (none except for roiginal rome total war) i have seen them played by friends or played them myself at friends house. in contrast to the old rome total war this one is in concept far superiour. the region systems the far greater amount of enemy factions the political intrigue inside the rome faction all feel great and to a certain extent make it feel more real. i have 1 bug majorly destroying my gameplay but if it wasnt for that bug it would already have a 9/10 for me.

This goes towards my opinion that the game is good but not great. Adding a region system, while breaking the concept of city managment, does give you a stronger way to improve your economy. However, the economy is irrelevant by the CA's own admission which is why you don't really build anything you just select upgradable buildings that act more like support cards for magic or pokemon rather than truely unique structures.

I do agree the game is fun and what not, but i cant deny the fact that the textures are jacked, i mean im playing on extreme but when im in a battle i close up on my units and i see missing textures or just straight up ugly ones. For example my royal peltasts look awesome from the frony but if i look at their back its just smeared colors. Again im not complaining abou the game at all because i am enjoying it but there are areas where the game did seem to be rushed or ignored, because if you back to the beta gameplay videos the game does look much better aesthetically

People can't play the game. That's why they are here, whining. Otherwise they would be playing the game.

I like some of the changes but others I'm a bit worried are designed to simplify it though I'm still unsure... the main issue I have as I said though is the bugs... if they did ANY beta testing they would know a lot of the huge crippling issues in the game and could have fixed them before release.

Its like they didn't do any beta testing and left that job to use to save money

Agreed, especially when they've shelled out £35 for a bug ridden game.

The last three titles from this series have all been released too early. They are betting on gameplay feed back they get from our PC's as we play.

Is little % buffs to your infantry or skirmishers or whatever what you would call 'character' ? This feature was much touted and hyped up when all it is is just a simple level-up system, grand.

More balanced Campaign gameplay, not just 100's of AI units spawned and thrown at you.

I'd rather have "100s of AI units" thrown at me if it constitutes a challenge rather than passive AI that waits for me to fight them - but this has been a feature of every TW game, so whatever.

Evolving Empires, as you expand, you have to constantly tweak your provinces to improve, ie, move your economic bases, your naval bases, your sources of food, this constantly enables you to move forward in building the best empire.

How is this a new thing ? You always moved your production centres forward unless you wanted fresh armies to spend years getting to the frontier; as for the economy, mods for Rome 1 have done it just as well if not better/more interesting many years ago.

Greater emphasis and use for agents.

I can give you this one, but as much as having these options is cool, it's pretty pointless when they're not needed and brute force works just fine.

More general customization, well, providing they survived, which during the era, they often didnt.

You mean like the Legion customization ? Adding +1 of this or that stat is not serious customization.. once again, Europa Barbarorum, Rome: Total Realism, Roma Surr ectum 2.5, and other mods add tons and tons of traits that make Generals unique, interesting and, perhaps most importantly, people you might, just might, CARE for, rather than automatons that you add +1 to.

A shinier coat of paint does not make a better game. Game devs like to flash prettier graphics in your face and convince you that the game is better because of it - Never. Gameplay and depth always trumps looks.

There will come a day when the standard for graphics is so high, that devs will no longer be able to impress with fidelity, and might have to for once, just once, compete with eachother in the gameplay arena rather than in the "oouh, shiny ! " one.

A NEW PLATFORM FOR MODDING

False. Go ask any modder and they will tell you that TW games are getting harder and harder to mod. CA is not Bohemia or Bethesda, they do not go hardcore on the mod support, not anymore.

Just go look at how Rome or MTW2 was modded and then look at mods for Empire. Yeah.

As for the rest of your post - you dismiss criticism as "whining" and "trolling" - if you want your games to improve, you need to criticise and punish (by not buying) companies. They are not your friends. You are only a customer. Act like one.

I played this game for several hours on release day and enjoyed it despite the graphic bugs I got. Right now I'm holding off playing until a patch or two because the bugs were breaking the immersion. I have no doubt the game will be great, but it DOES need some work done before I boot it up again.

I suspect that in about a year we will get the game we paid for. Not till then, think where you were a year after Shogun 2 had its bugs worked out.

Well I agree, we need to come with criticism, but so far, 90% have been whining, and raging on the forum... which is why there is so many pages!! (I think I saw 400+)...
Sure we need to say what we want to get changed, but there is a difference, if people had unreal expectations and just feels let down, or if they give the game a chance, experience problems and then report it...

and of cause the people that can't open the game... my thoughts go out to all you people, I been there with several games, and it sucks.

I am currently playing on my 40th turn and the game say I been playing 44 hours... I feel that people that put in time and actually played the game should be heard, and the rest should get the posts deleted, as all they do is use space on the forum...
