This also allows you to swap out generals of your family during times of peace for other families so they can earn gravitas as statesmen.

lol , did people really haven't notice this sooner?

try to put your family/faction leader on best army and get him fight as much as possible
focus all promotion on him ,it will yield more support than promotion expenses

Militarily suiciding them is a good way to kick your opposing internal faction's gravitas in the balls, though :)

You are playing Rome 2:Total War, right? Why is it that none of my Generals have this option? There are buttons for Assassinate, Secure Promotion, and Spread Rumors, but there is not a Replace button anywhere. Why would this be? Am I on the right screen? Are we playing the same game?

This thread is from nearly five years ago and 20 versions back from the beta version you're playing right now. Therefore, no, the politics tab isn't the right screen, because it's completely different from what was there in Sept 2013.

You want to go through the army menus to find the Replace button. That part is still the same as it was back then.

Can you provide some screenshots or something? Walk me through the process. There is nothing in the book about this. The "encyclopedia" does not open when I click on it. There is nothing else on the internet anywhere I can find that explains how to do this. This should be very simple, but I have looked for a very long time and still have not found this mythical Replace button. I emailed the developer, and they said they can't help me with that, and I should consult the forums instead, so here I am. They say these threads are monitored. Well, monitors, show me screenshots of exactly what buttons I need to push to get to the screen where there is a Replace button. I am not a stupid person. Far from it. If I am having trouble figuring this out, then there is a problem with the game not being intuitively designed, in my opinion. If it takes this long to get this question answered, then there is also a problem with support for the game, especially if the developer outright refuses to provide assistance to what should be a basic problem.

This is what I see on what seems to be the screen where I would do something like this. Notice that there is no replace button. If this is the wrong screen, how do I get to the right screen?

It was never in politics, or things like that.
The thread is talking about replacing the army commander.
