Yes really. Constantinople was founded by Constantine (the Great). I'm not going to wiki it for exact dates, but I know for sure it happened some 100 years AD at least. The game starts at 272B.C. if I'm not mistaken, which is in the Roman Republic era. You're talking about the Roman Empire after the split between east and west.
That's all well and good, but the city of Byzantium existed on that site before Constantine. Constantine didn't just come along to an empty bunch of land and said "Let's build a city here"
