Black boxes flickering all over the screen during battles?

I had the same problem with the menu on shogun 2 where i just changed the direct x and it worked is it possible to change it on this game cant find an option anywhere.....

If you're using Crossfire or SLI, turn it off.

try this back up file first


Click start > Run
Type in %appdata%
Select Roaming > The Creative Assembly > Rome 2 > Scripts
Open the file preferences.scripts.txt
Look for the following line

gfx_enable_directx11 true; # gfx_enable_directx11 <bool>, Enable DirectX 11 rendering #

and change it to the following

gfx_enable_directx11 false; # gfx_enable_directx11 <bool>, Enable DirectX 11 rendering #

Click file and save
Run Rome 2 with shadows working correctly.

Don't turn crossfire off there is nothing wrong with your graphics card

Yeah i put it back on when it didnt solve the problem, shame about the draw distance though, shader model 3s a bit of a limit hopefully we get a patch.

I have that same problem when runnining on all really high graphic settings(extreme ultra and Very high) even thoug my gpu should be ble to handle it it is an AMD 7900 Black Edition

mxrhome what problem are u having the black flickering or the draw distance? alans method worked for me for the flickering black boxes.
Bobbiom i tried windowed mode before and had no luck, with computers though most the time things work for some and then not for others.

It Is not a graphics card problem.......CA will sort it all in time just like Empire TW

Besides theblack boxes I have Lag poor frame rates and crappy pixelated battlefields my unit also refuse to run for some reason I can run Shogun 2 Perfectly why not this?

My games just started crashing despite running perfectly saying "Total war: Rome 2 has stopped working" to be honest i serously think this game just needs a few good patches. Im getting decent fps but sometimes my graphics go terrible too especially trees not sure what to do with this game but its starting to piss me off.
