This is the most rude thing I've seen in any post on any forum..Obviously you seem to have a grudge against Ireland and Scotland for some reason.
Also, Ireland was full of great forests spread around the country which would've helped with any navy as the English found out by cutting alot of them down
There probably is an "Irish" faction in the Hibernia province, its just not playable.
P.S. what you are all asking for is an expansion or add-on for the British Isles. This is literally the setting most thouroughly covered in the history of Total War games. Its been present in 6 Total War games, and has been a subject of 2 expansion packs. It has been covered in the Ancient times, the Middle Ages (4 times all told), and the 18th-19th Centuries. How about TW tries exploring some other settings?
Also, if you are interested in a Dark Ages British setting for a videogame, try the Brytenwalda mod for Warband.
Two issues might be the "Irish Dark Age", a period of stagnation that lasted from 100 BC to 300 AD, and that Ireland tended to have smaller more numerous Tribes than the rest of the UK. Neither are insurmountable and in other areas Celtic, Gallic or Germanic Culture some Factions are groups of Tribes rather than one big one. Plus the Dark Age wasn't inevitable.
Tacitus mentions Agricola thought of Invading Ireland in the 1st Century. Imagining the place could be held with one Legion. Maybe, maybe not I suspect a larger force would be needed.
Some Roman Buildings have been found in Ireland, but it's hard to tell if they are small fort, Marching Camp or simply a trading Camp. Maybe it was the last resting place of the Ninth Legion.
ok ill clear this up , first of you can play as ireland tribe think you have to complete an iceni campaign to do so , worth it . secondly i am from ireland. during this time era Ireland did not have a high king although there was many tribes across the land . actually historicaly irish tribes populated the land of britiania ( england , wales ) so do have the british tribes and not the irish is historicaly stupid . ROME was aware of ireland as they named it HIBERNIA ( the land of winter ) but its never been proved romans ever beached here tough they did name the land . also the roman empire did NOT trade with irish tribes lol , there is no evidence to support they landed here let alone set up a trade network lol
1. There are no faction unlocks in Rome 2.
The only way to play as the Ebdani (Irish faction) or any other Brittanic Tribe other than the Iceni is through a mod. Note that unless the mod also adds these features, they will be a basic faction not designed to be played and missing many of the features of the playable ones. The same is true of all the other non-playable factions.
There are 32 playable factions in all in Grand Campaign and Multiplayer. The 8 Main Factions, 6 Free-LC Factions and 18 Factions added through paid DLC. Details here:

2. This thread is originally from 2013, and the last post before yours was from 2014. I appreciate you wanting to help and provide information, but Necroposting (reviving old threads) is frowned upon on this and many other forums.
EDIT: Sorry, I hope that doesn't come across as harsh. If so, I apologise. Just wanted to make sure new players were clear on the playable factions, and also on the rules of the forum.
All the Best,
Welsh Dragon.
hey man sorry about the necroposting i didnt know that was frowned upon wont happen again :) ill read into the forum rules before i decide to say or do anything else that causes a problem , thanks for clearing up the playable faction ill check the workshop for an irish faction thanks and again really sorry man
No need to apologise, you weren't to know. But yeah, it's worth having a quick read of the Steam Discussions and Rules Guidelines (linked at the side of the page,) just so you have a general idea what is and isn't allowed (as it's very easy to stray into out of bounds territory by accident.) This particular forum isn't that heavily moderated, but some are on Steam, so good to know. Fore warned is Fore Armed as they say.
And welcome to the forums and the game. Glad you are enjoying it.
EDIT: No idea if it still works, but this was one of the mods I found when did a quick search for Irish mods: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=704658206&searchtext=irish
Note, you'll need to use a faction unlock mod to actually play as them, but looks promising.
All the Best,
Welsh Dragon.
I might be mistaken though...
