I mean, on the strategy map, no issue there. Of course the menus would have to be twiked a bit so as not to be out of the field of view, but it would give the general impression of hovering a few meters above a very pretty 3d map.
On the tactical (battle) view, it would give a nice sense of where your troop are positioned from up high, and a superb immersive feeling of chaotic battle from up-close. Picture watching replays of your most epic battles this way.
If its not officially supported, I bet you anything that a mod will more or less elegantly support it within a month of release.
