Army/ fleet maximum for AI?
Hello!
Can someone tell me if there is a maximum for generals/ admirals for the AI? Does it differ from maximum for players?
In my Macedonian campaign, I'm allied with Armenia. They own six cities only and have a huge amount of armies and fleets.

I'm pretty sure they do, can you give us a screenshot of all of their armies and fleets?
Note: It's possible for a faction to 'spawn' with more armies than its limit allowing it to field extra ones. I don't think it can build any new ones until it dips back below the limit or increases it though.

Ok, could be an explanation, Armenia lost some cities. I was wrong: they own seven cities, but have 18 generals/ admirals in total. Using Radious Total War Mod, normal difficulty on round 186 (won the game after this round). Here are the screenshots:

None of the links work, I don't think you copied them over properly. Also, either they are at the third tier of imperium sitting at seven cities or they simply had more cities earlier in the game and built all of their armies prior to losing some of them. Also, imperium is determined by how many provinces and settlements are acquired during the campaign. So assuming they started with one-two cities and zero provinces controlled and worked their way up to seven cities and two provinces it's entirely possible they are at the third tier.

Youre using mods that increase the army limit and youre complaining about the the army limits...

Exactly what srs bsns said.

The Radious Mod increases the army/navy cap for both the player and the AI. I can't recall what the numbers are off the top of my head but 18 sounds like an exaggeration for a faction with only seven cities. Are some of the armies or navies shwoing that red attrition icon above their heads? If so then that indicates that they were a lot bigger at one point but then lost territory - thus they can't properly support their military forces.

Oh, I didn't know that it increases the limit for both! But good to hear that the AI is limited the same way as the player.

Strange thing with the screenshots... I'm able to see them.

You probably have it set so that only friends can see them.

Yea but its funny how much armies/fleets the Ai can have. on very hard these 1city factions have 3-4 full armys standing around there city :D

Always wondering how these factions could upkeep them. Screenshots should work now.

most mods affect ai aswell.

ai gets the same army limit as you, theres no difference.

ai gets a big difference in upkeep of units, recruit cost, and recruit slots aswell as tax and admin buffs.

So, for me, the number cap is fine... Whatever... I'm also using the Radious mod, and I love it... My problem, starting the game on Very hard, is that I'm at war with one of the northern Brittanic tribes, and they only have one province left. One. But they have Five -- Five. FIVE fully stacked armies. It's around turn 25 or so, barring trade as a viable revenue source... So... This is just about killing the game for me. Where does the AI get the money? If there's no real limit or moderation to the AI's strategy, then it's not really a game, is it? Why even play; why try to win? I'm moderatly frustrated, because I really want to get into this one. I love the TW series... This just seems horribly broken.

Given that unit stats stay the same everywhere pretty much, this illogical multi stack thing is the only way the "small faction giving you a hell of a fight unexpectedly" thing (which should happen in an empire building game) can be simulated within the existing mechanics of the game. I think it'd suck if that was removed.
