Has anyone ever had a ally betray them?
It just occured to me this has never happened, through all 7 patches even on legendary. Allies that it even says are untrustworthy have never went against me. Do I have some uncanny luck or is this happening to everyone?

Kind of... They declared war on my other ally who wasn't even near them.
Allies need really good reason to betray you even if they are untrustworthy. Not sure about devius people... never allied with them.

It has never happened to me. I made allies that were unreliable and warlike but they never delared war on anyone and never betrayed me. It must just be a system that hasnt been focused on yet.

A ally attacking another ally of yours that they have no agreements to isn't quite betraying you. As for "good reasons too" I once placed 3 armies on a ally's land and made them raid, while the ally became more and more discontent with me even when it became extremely pissed it never broke the alliance and it never betrayed me. It just sat there and took it.
To be more accurate he was my Satrapy. Egypt decided to declare war on meidia even when they weren't even close to each others.

However satrapies do attack you if they hate you enough.

Dude I have add a bunch of allies declare war on me, it is basically when they get tired of your crap, but giving gifts of money can squander that happening

Well, if you have grown to dominate half the map (or even 5-6 provinces) of course they wont betray you, they are supposed to be treacherous not idiots.

in my 400 hours so far i find that all factions are both treacherous and idiotic in the dipo screen

I have had two break the alliance but not attack me, and that is only after I broke an alliance with someone else. Basically avoid alliances like the plague unless it is really benefical and you have no plans to break it.

This, A.I did same dirty trick in shogun 2. It was either lose your honor or go to war :/

I think I have only had broken alliances when one alliance goes to war with another.

Well it happened to me once during m spartan campaign but it was quickly put down.
yeah. They thought I had hostile intent by stacking three armies at each of their citys. don't know how

I'm playing on hard difficulty now, civil war is at it's end. I'm playing as Romans btw.

No faction has ever declared war on me. Either I'm very good at diplomacy (which I am :)), or the game is pretty easy.

I have lots of allies too.
