The game seems geared more to MP/arcade flavor. Some say speed can be tuned down thru modding - but as unstable as the game is atm - loathe to mess with it.
Inasmuch as these games have some qualities of simulation - beginning to color my view of history that tactics was a bit over-rated. These battles must have just been chaotic and frightfully fast - and there would have been no command and control except in the most unique circumstances in anything close to a ptched battle. Generalship probably only comes pre-battle and at the head of the elite general's guard. At least- if you play Rome2 - one might get that impression.
Thats another problem aswell. HA are pants in this game, why put in 3 factions based on horse tribes for them to be useless. I've noticed that if you target a single unit then another enemy unit can practically just march up and engage them regardless of skirmish mode being on.
My cavalry can always outrun infantry even without the upgrade. I can tell because if I get into a melee battle with infantry and I retreat my horses the enemy infantry can never catch up.
I wish they'd make up their minds, one way or another, just how useless/useful they're going to make cavalry, and stick to it. As of now, every time a new patch comes out, a new outlook on cavalry seems to emerge.
