Total War Rome 2 Additional Depots?

For some reason when look into the "my games" tab of steam library I find two strange applications. One is titled "Total War Rome 2 Additional Depots" and the other is named "ValveTestApp200269". I have absolutely no idea what these are or where they came from. Can anybody shed some light on the subject for me?

no idea, I installed and tried running the addition depots, but got an error

I'm not sure when I got it either. I had just uninstalled twr2 (deleted local cache and then deleted all related folders in the steam directory and user folders) and we reinstalling it when it caught my eye. I'm wondering if this occurred because I may have uninstalled it incorrectly. Perhaps I shouldn't have deleted those folders :P.
Did you happen to have uninstalled your game before you saw that application like I did?

It seems the ValveTestApp200269 file is connected to one of the Batman Arkham games some how because when I looked up it's steam update history. It brought me to the news page for an Arkham games. Interestingly enough, the update history for TWR2: Additional Depots brought me to a blank page.

There are lots of queries re: the additional depots thing. Google it. No answers from the devs, from steam or anyone else either.

It's a mystery - I for one would like answered since when installing R2 steam placed an icon for the additional depots thing on my desktop.

Has anyone figured out what Additional Depots are all about? How can Steam download an app onto the desktop and then offer no explanation for it??!
