Load times get longer and longer during play session
Anyone experienced this? When I start a new play session, the game loads quite well, but after a few hours load times slow to a crawl. Entering/exiting battle can take as long as the battle itself.

Restarting the game doesn't solve the issue, however restarting computer seems to make things better. Any other solutions to this?

Please don't reply just to bash the game.

To speed it up, start Rome 2, CTRL/ALT/DEL, start task manager, go to the details tab, right click Rome 2, select set affinity, uncheck CPU0, click ok, go back into game and play. It will still slow down along the way, but not nearly as bad and you will also get better performance all the way around. I have no clue why, but Rome 2 was built for a dual core processor and it has no idea what to do with more than two cores...

My turns are actually very quick, about 30 seconds tops. It's the pre-battle and post-battle load times that are unbearably long. By the way, hazardhawk's advice helped a lot, I see a visible improvement.

The only time I have ever experienced this same issue myself I had way too many game saves stored. I deleted all but about 20 game saves & the game has run great ever since. I've noticed at about 40 games saves & more that the game will start loading slower. Much slower when you get to like 200 saves like what I had when it was so bad for me. Hope this helps.
