Level II Hulls and Horses?
Hey all. Have a question related to leveling up hulls and horses.
I have found a couple cities where my ships suddenly allow a level up to level 2 hulls. What buildings are doing this? How can I level up my hulls?

Also, one of the cites on the Spainish peninsula (wall city near town of Arse?) gave me a horse bonus (Level 2 horses).

I haven't managed to figure out if these are related to the region or the buildings!

Thoughts?

For Hellenic culture,it's the shrine of Poseidon,at level 4 it allows level 3 hulls and level 1 horses.
Now for horses specifically,i think only Celtic and Germanic cultures have buildings for that. They are agricultural with a horse as an icon,at max level they allow level 3 horses.
Also the nomad Tribes of the East - mebe even Sarmatians?
Ahhh... So is there any hints as to how we find these perk locations? Is it just ship hulls and super horses?

Location? hm
You might have discovered something different.
I was referring to bonus conferred by AI (and player) chosen buildings.

Ok... So, the shrine of Poseidon is a template. I was thinking it was a "wonder" or something of the sort. Is there a particular booster building that will give level 3 hulls (or even level 2) playing a Rome?
I have seen a few buildings that offer benefits not accessible to Romans, and sometimes I keep them around if they are in settlements rather than capitals (and usually they are):

Stables (Britannia/Iceni) - Horses upgrades (+10% cavalry speed at Level 3)
Carpenter (Tarraconesis) - Ammunition upgrades (40% more missile ammo at Level 2!)
Marksmen's Range (Nabatea/Parthava) - Ammunition upgrades (40% more missile ammo at Level 3, armor/weapons/morale/XP)
Bronze Furnace (Carthago Nova/Carthage) - Melee Attack/Defense/XP
Shrine of Epona (Carthago Nova/Cathage) - Cavalry XP/morale/costs

I also saw the Hull upgrade in Carthaginian ports, but converted them long ago.

Note that the Horse and Ammo upgrades appear to work as upgrades, not just at recruitment. I have marched existing Cavalry/Missiles into towns with the buildings and upgraded them. The Ammo in particular is a huge upgrade.
Man... I wish they would explain that in the manuals... I typically rebuild the entire settlements...
To be fair, you can see all this information if you hover over each building in your settlement.
I am playing as rome and I found horse breeders town "Treverorum" and it allows to be converted to roman version of that building. I upgraded all my cavalry to level 3 horses
Certain regions provide specific resources, each of which (in Patch 17) provides a global bonus if you control that region (in Patch 16 or earlier it was local.) Regions with a resource will have a special settlement building (top left building in that region on the province screen) in place of the usual one. And some high level buildings require you to control specific resources like Iron or Timber.

The Resources and effects are:

◦ Amber: trade tariffs (faction)
◦ Dyes: happiness (all provinces)
◦ Grain: food (all regions)
◦ Leather: manufacturing (all regions)
◦ Iron: shield/armour/weapons upgrades (all provinces)
◦ Horses: horse upgrades (all provinces)
◦ Lead: sanitation (all provinces)
◦ Marble: now provides a happiness bonus in all provinces
◦ Timber: ship hull upgrades (all sea regions)
◦ Silk: commerce (all regions)
◦ Wine: happiness (all provinces)
◦ Glass: research (faction)
◦ Olives: agriculture (all regions)
◦ Gold: mining (all provinces)

Different factions also may have buildings which offer bonuses in keeping with the faction.

As ever, Honga/The Royal Military Academy is a useful resource for checking what buildings your specific faction can have: http://www.honga.net/totalwar/rome2/index.php

Hope that helps.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.
